Rumors. Rumors spread, like blood, dripping, along the floor, the walls.
Rumors. Rumors are powerful. Truth or lies? No one knows.
No one, except the cause of the rumor.
Whispers echo through the rooms, hallways, as time ticks by.
Mutters, secrets, gossip, panic.
"Did you hear..?"
"I refuse to believe it"
"Some stupid lie..."
"Some idiot trying to rile shit up.."
"What are the chances...?"
"I don't know what to believe.."
"...Leaving.."
"...Calling home.."
"I think its...."
"Backpack..."
"I heard there were police on campus..."
"Gun..."
Teachers turn their heads, principle goes onto the school-wide speakers
"Ladies and gentlemen of... ...I can assure you... ...no threat... ...police were not involved... ...safe with us... ...no need to panic... ...go about your day..."
The announcement is over, cut off, the room abuzz. It's serious enough to draw the principles attention? Big enough for him to make a school-wide announcement? Although, no one really listened to it that much. Minds race, teacher's voices try to sooth classes.
Ah yes, rumors can be powerful.
