Flashback

Sunny walked around the mountain, pondering where to go. Clay and Tsunami were training with Kestrel and Glory was sleeping like every other afternoon so Sunny decided to go find Starlight. But she didn't see him anywhere.

The library!! I'm so stupid why didn't I think about him being there?

Sunny raced down the hall almost running into Dune.

"Watch where your going!"

"Sorry Dune!"

When she got to the library she peaked her head in. Sitting there among a pile of scrolls sat Starlight. Sunny stood there for a time just watching him. She loved the way he looked when he was reading. Like nothing else in the world could take him away from the scroll.

One of the moons could crash into the mountain and Starflight wouldn't even twitch!

With a sigh Starflight put down the book he was reading Sunny took a step back and walked into the room so Starflight didn't know she was watching him

"Hey Starflight"

Starflight smiled wide. He was always so happy to see her!

It made Sunny so happy. She never admitted it to anyone but she really liked Starflight. Way more than brother and sister wise.

"Hey Sunny! How are you doing?"

"Great! I was looking for you."

"Y-you were??"

When he did stuff like that and stutter around her it made her wonder if he liked her 'that way' too.

"Yeah! I was wondering if you could tell me a story about something you just read."

"I would love too!"

So Sunny and Starflight sat close next to each other while Starflight told Sunny more about Scavengers, Sunny's eyes never leaving Starflights face.

Starflight...

I have to tell her. If I don't make it out and I don't tell her how I feel....

Starflight's mind was made up. Its time

He slowly walked up to Sunny. She looked nervous.

"Hey Sunny... can I talk to you for a minute?"

Sunny looked kinda confused but said yes and followed him away from all the Rainwings.
Starflight stopped next to the pond.

"There's something-- I mean. . . . Something I've wanted to tell you. For a long time."

"I'm listening" Sunny said tilting her head to make her look ever more confused.

Across the clearing he saw Glory trying to quiet everyone down. It was now or never.

"I love you," Starflight blurted out... he thought he would get right to the point and say it. No matter how hard it was.

Sunny blinked prossecing what he just said. Then blinked again.
"What?"

"I mean... you're all I think about. I always need to be near you and I hate it when I'm not, and no matter what I do you are always in the back of my mind. I can always hear your voice telling me what to do when I'm stuck. And I think you are the only dragon in the world who actually sees me as a full dragon and knows the way I am but still likes me anyway..."

He paused looked across the clearing at Fatespeaker. He liked her... but not the way he likes, no, loves Sunny.
He hurried on before Sunny could say anything.

"And I just had to tell you, in case something happens to you or me tonight I would never forgive myself if I never told you how i feel. I don't know if I would be able to breathe or even think or anything ever again."

Sunny just stared at him. She opened her mouth then closed it again... then repeated that two more times. Starflight had never seen her that speechless before. In that time his mind started to wonder. And the more nervous he became.

What if she doesn't like me?
Did I just ruin our friendship by saying all that?

Then Sunny surprised him by flinging herself forward and wrapping her arms around his neck.

"Oh Starflight. . . . I love you too!"

"R-really? I didn't think you did."

He twisted his wings around her small body. It always felt perfect. Like they were meant to be together.

"I have loved you for as long as I could remember."

And for that moment everything was perfect. . .

Now. . . After the war. . . at Jade Mountain

Sunny

Sunny was siting with Starlight at the library in Jade Mountain.
So much had happened since that night. . . Starflight was blind, Glory was now queen of two tribes. . . But no matter what, her and Starflight were together the whole time.

Starflight

So much happened since Starflight became blind. It was hard at first, always crashing into things. But Sunny was always there for him. Helping him back off the ground. He hoped that would never change. Even thought the Nightwings had no more powers, he still sensed something. Something old and ancient stirring. He hoped it will have nothing to do with Sunny and him. Or any of the dragonets here at Jade mountain. He just wanted everything to to be quiet for some time but sadly he had a feeling that peace and quiet and calmness was a long way to come. . .

"Hey Sunny?" He called to her.

He heard talons in the floor coming towards him and felt the warm wing of Sunny coming up next to him.

"Yeah Starflight?"

"I love you... never leave me."

"I love you too, Starflight! Oh, and I will always be here. . . I'm not going anywhere. Ever."
