Chapter 17

My heart was racing, as I heard him over the microphone. This could not be real! I had seen him take his last breath, his face all bloodied. I couldn't fathom what was happening, this was impossible. 

His voice kept ringing in my ears, familiar yet foreign.
I felt a hand on my shoulder," Are you okay? ", Rohit said, looking at me intently.
Nodding my head I looked at him, " This can't be real, Rohit."
I could not concentrate on my surroundings anymore, and I began to feel lightheaded. Holding on to him, I tried to regain my footing.
"Let's get out of here, Ananya." Rohit called for the car as he started leading me to the exit. As we were walking, I could feel the heat of his stare on my back. I turned my head to find his dark eyes on me. He was still speaking over the microphone, but all his attention was on me. And then, again, he smiled at me, and my world seemed to stop. Everything started spinning and my heart started racing, and then everything was black.

Rohit's POV
Ananya crashed to the ground as we were walking to the exit. I quickly grabbed her and picked her up. I could see the doors, but a set of guards stood before it.
"Open the doors right now! I need to take her home. " I yelled out in frustration.
" I apologize, sir. We are under strict orders to not to let anyone in or out, due to security reasons." One of them said.
" Stop being ridiculous..."
" Is there a problem Rohit?" I heard Abhimanyu say behind me.
I turned slightly towards him, so that he could see Amanya in my arms.
" Oh, is she okay. What's wrong with her? " he asked frantically.
" I need to get her home. Please open the doors."I said in a calm tone, trying my best not to chew his head off.
" Why don't you take her upstairs, we have rooms for guests. I can ask our physician to have a look at her. We aren't letting anyone in or out till Arnav is here. " Abhimanyu tried to reason with me.
Begrudgingly I agreed, " Lead the way."
I quickly carried her to the rooms upstairs and settled her in the bed. She was stirring slightly, but she looked pale. "Rohit...."
I heard her mumble.
" I am here Ananya." I held her hand in mine. The door opened and Abhimanyu walked in with an old man.
" Hello, I'm Dr Richards," introducing himself, he began checking her pulse.
"Do you know anything about her medical history, is she taking any pills, any other issues?"  Before I could answer Abhimanyu butted in, "She suffered from post traumatic stress disorder after the incident and I think she is still taking pills for the same. "
"She isn't taking any pills," I said," She has been seeing a counsellor, though." 

After examining her, Dr Richards started an IV drip. "She must have had a panic attack. Let her rest now. She seems okay. You can get her to see me or her regular physician once she is okay", Dr Richards said as he left the room. 

"You have been working her too hard, Rohit. Give her a break." Abhimanyu said, trying to antagonize me. 

" She was absolutely fine, till she saw your dead brother come back to life", I roared out.

"Do not get Arnav into this, he cares for Ananya. "

"I want to take her home. She felt restless and he triggered her anxiety, we both know that." I said pacing the room. 

"Okay. You can take her out the back entrance. But my guards will escort you back to your apartment building." Abhimanyu said. 

Nodding my head, I went to Ananya, who looked so peaceful. " He thinks she's waiting for him. She means the world to him, Rohit." 

A warning clear in his words, I decided to ignore it for now. "She means the world, to me too. All those years ago, I had seen her first." I said clearly.

A loud, frantic knock sounded at the door, opening it, we were surprised to see a young woman. "What is wrong with her? What have you done Abhimanyu?" she yelled out.

"What in the world are you doing here, Tanya?" Abhimanyu roared out. 

"Oh don't you yell at me. I knew something wasn't right. How dare you do this to her. She has struggled and struggled. And what have you done to Jai?" Tanya seethed as she roared back.

"Guys, I need to get her out of here. I know we all care about her, but you are being really loud." I said in a matter of fact tone. 

They both looked at me, as if I was stupid, but Abhimanyu growing a bit of a brain, said, "You take her home. Tanya and I have a lot to talk about, don't we love?" he said teasing her. 

"Yes we do, Mr. Rai. Please take her back. And if you could send me the address, I will come back once I am done having a conversation with him." Tanya said. 

I quickly gathered her sleeping form in my arms and walked out of the door. There were things I did not know, things which the Rai's were hiding. But at this moment, Ananya mattered the most
