Jennifer’s POV
“How can she be so rude and quite? She used to be so cheerful.” I told myself but then it hit me. I got that it’s the time when I should totally be with my friend who’s going through the most hard and strange time of her life. I decided to visit her in the evening.
I opened up the door and found my troubled friend on her bed. She had kept her head on her folded legs and was weeping. I entered the room and swiftly approached her and kept my hand on her shoulder. She slowly moved her head up and looked at me, still crying, and told, “HE IS INVISIBLE.”. I was wonderstruck at the saddest of her face. I was shocked at her melancholy-full words. I was agonized by her situation.
A tear of mine fell on her hand. I tried to calm her “everything’s gonna be alright. I’m here. We’re gonna figure this out. I know you’re not okay .I know there is something wrong which I didn’t felt that day. I can feel it now.” She kept her head on my shoulder and whispered with no hope, “there is no way out. I’m stuck here. How can we figure this out?” she sounded so hopeless, so-dead! I quickly searched some calming words in my mind again. I said “no, there’s gotta be a way out. You just tell me who is it! Have you seen him before somewhere? Do you feel his face is familiar to you?” I saw a flow of hope in her veins. She said “no, not at all. He have green eyes and brown hair. But I have never seen him before.” As she was describing the man, a brilliant idea came in my head. I hastily stood up and excitedly said “I’ve got a wonderfully brilliant idea!” she also stood up and uttered “what’s that?” I said “we’re gonna call a sketching artist and make a sketch of the man!” she got irritated and asked “how can the sketch help me? You’re hopeless, jenny.” I said “calm down! You’ve got to believe me. We must follow the only way to get you out of the problem. And that is to investigate and detect who he is and what he wants. Till then, you gather some courage and try to talk to him and ask him who is he, okay? ” she looked down and said “okay.” I kept my hand on her shoulder and said “I’ll meet you tomorrow with our sketch artist. Okay. Bye. ” she abruptly pulled me into a hug. She verbalized, “I guess I’m not alone now. Thank you. Bye.”
The next morning, I woke up and hurled into the bathroom. Then I paired a navy blue tank top with sky blue jeans. Last night, I told my mom the whole story and she said “baby, I know you’re worried about your friend but this whole investigating thing is useless. I’ll not force you to stop it but I’m just telling you. It’s not a spiritual thing; it’s a mental disorder or a psychological disease or something.”
I stepped out of my home and realized that I have to take a sketching artist with me to Lucy! I totally forgot.
I hired a sketching artist named Cameron, who is not only an excellent artist but also a really good person.
I got in and saw my best friend who was well dressed in a cute colorful strapless frock today and was not inside her loose hospital gown. I entered and asked lucy “can I bring him in?” she stood up from the bed and excitedly said “of course! Bring my hope inside now.” We both were interrupted by a masculine voice “hey! Psycho people don’t dress like that. By the way, my name’s Cameron, not HOPE!”
He was already inside the room without knocking. Lucy said smiling “so, you’re gonna help me, right?” he smirked and said “sure, psycho girl! Why not? ”she angrily yelled “stop calling me that! You might be a psycho but I’m not.” He said “then, you should’ve told me your name when I told you mine!” she chuckled and said putting her hand on her hip “alright! It’s Lucy Alison Davis, nice to meet you!” I was standing like an ignored statue. They both were talking like they know each other for years! I rudely interrupted as it was necessary “ahem!!... Guys, can we focus on our work here?!? The nurse only gave us one and a half hour!”
I sat on a chair near Lucy who was sitting on the bed. Cameron was standing confronting us and was ready with his pencils and canvas. I said “okay guys! Let’s do this.”
Lucy started describing him. She was looking towards the wall which had nothing on it and then she was telling Cameron about the invisible man’s face. Cameron was kind of surprised and seemed a little worried about her. She did this a couple of times before Cameron finally spoke “okay. I can’t stand this anymore. WHAT are you doing Lucy? Are you okay?” his speech’s first part was kinda tease-y but the last question reflected he cared about Lucy. What’s going on? It’s their first meeting! I was little bit jealous. Okay a lot.
I told him “Cameron, can you first complete the sketch and then listen to the mysterious story? Just try to focus on your work. That’s the only way to help Lucy.”
We were done with our sketch in an hour. Lucy was quite after it and was staring at the wall again. Cameron said “hello!! I’m dying to hear the story here.” Lucy didn’t respond. I was staring at Cameron. He was smiling at my friend! Suddenly his expression changed and he screamed “whoa! Oh god…… what happened!!!! Nurse…., doctor!” I swiftly turned my face to Lucy who was unconscious and was gonna fall from her bed. I ran towards her but Cameron reached there before me to hold her. The nurses and doctor were here. Cameron picked Lucy up and kept her on the stretcher.
After some time, Lucy came to a conscious state and was terribly terrified. She was crying out loud. I burst out in tears too as she seemed so troubled. She called me out. I went to my crying friend.
She hugged me tightly and wept, a lot. I said controlling my tears “what happened? Lucy, tell me.”
