Chapter 3
- Worries -
Dizziness...
...
Darkness... A bone-deep exhaustion was fogging her thoughts, her mind...
...
Pain... Her hands... Her feet... Everything...
...
Heaviness. Heat. Sweat. More fogging pain.
Why...? What-.. What happened? Where was she? She...? Who... who was she?
"...Ioana?..."
Ioana? Was that her name? ... Yes! That was her name. Mom said she had looked quite a lot for a fitting name. 'God's blessing' she said. 'It had felt like it was chosen by the Angels themselves'. For her she had been her blessing. Her 'Little Soul'. After father left them, she said why she felt like that. She was her little bundle of hope. Joy. So, in order to keep her safe and her soul shining bright she did everything she could. But she had been reckless... And Ioana learned that desperate decisions weren't always the best.
"Mama...?"(1) she tried, in her mother-language, voice wheezing. Her throat hurt. It always did. Everytime she woke and everytime she didn't drink enough water. She knew the discomfort every since she gained a conscience.
"Mama? Tu esti?"(2) she groaned, and tried to open her eyes, but they were too heavy.
When she didn't receive an answer and didn't hear anything else, frowned. Then, as she searched through her mind, her memories hit her like a train. A sudden pain rose in her chest and she whimpered in despair. "Where was she when she needed her?! Why? Why did she let him do that?! Why did she leave?!" Her whimpers turned into full fledged tears, and she turned on her right side on what ever surface she lay. She curled up, sobs rocking her frame and heart feeling like someone had their hand around it, gripping tightly, with the intention not to take a life, but to torture it.
"Shhh... Ioana. Sunt eu, Ale. E okay."(3) was whispered in her ear, and she felt a hand on her left shoulder.
Slowly, the hand began turning her, not with force, but firmness, to lay once again on her back. She tried once again to open her eyes. She was blinded by the bright light and she quickly shut them, and almost curled up again, if not for the hand on her arm.
"Usor. Nu te grabi. Ai fost inconstienta ceva timp.."(4) she heard the warm and friendly voice. But it held concern and exhaustion too. But... But the voice made her feel safe. It was familiar..
"Ale...?" she asked herself.
Ale...
Ale..
Ale.
And then it clicked. Alexandra! Her best friend!
And Tamara and Estera! And Mary, her sister! Her new friends and the Autobots.
She blinked, and tried to open her eyes, slowly this time, careful with the light.
She sat up, with the help of her friend, and clutched her head when vertigo greeted her. Her palm hit the wet skin of her cheek and she wiped the tears with the back of her hand. Her headache wasn't gone either and she still felt so tired. Her arm trembled as it supported her.
"Ceva timp?"(5) she turned to her friend, voice cracking.
"Not as much as you think! Just a day." Ale reverted to English.
