"UGH!!"
Mal tossed her marker onto the ground. That was her last black marker and it had dried out. Mal had stolen it from Cruella (she had used it to draw her eyebrows on) before she had left the isle.
To finish her drawing she needed a black marker. All she had were the crappy ones that weren't even black and her broken colored pencils she had collected from around the isle.
There was a knock at the door surprising her. Who the hell would visit this room?
Mal looked to the left and saw Evie hunched over chemistry homework and her mirror. She sighed loudly and when Evie didn't respond, Mal crossed the room and opened the door with a "What?"
It was Ben.
Mal felt a twinge of..something but brushed it away as fast as it appeared.
"Hey Mal!"
She resisted the urge to slam the door. She tried to pay attention, she really did! But all she could hear was this low buzzing. She could see his lips moving but nothing reached her ears.
Mal could FEEL her eye twitch. What was he getting out of this? Is it his rebellion against his parents? To challenge his father's decrees? What was the purpose of dragging her and her friends here and then pretending to be friends. They weren't friends.
She was about to just slam the door in his face but she paused. She needed something.
A new marker or she couldn't finish her drawing...
She bit her lip and interrupted whatever he was saying. "You mentioned art classes? That means that there is art supplies right?"
Somehow his annoying smile got even bigger. She caused that. Gross.
"Yeah of course. Do you want to sign up for an art class next semester? I could help you fix your schedule."
Mal could feel excitement rolling off him and she knew she had to shut him down. She was not a project for him to improve. "No," She said shortly, "All I want is a black marker for like two minutes." She felt better when she saw his excitement dull down. She rolled her eyes as his shoulders perked up again.
"Maybe if you see the art classrooms, you'll want to take some classes! We have a great art department. Whenever she has time, Rapunzel drops by and teaches. She also owns a gallery out in Towering Heights, you should go see it sometime! It's really great. I could take you if you'd like?" He offered.
For about half a second Mal entertained the idea of seeing a gallery.
To walk through the place. To see all the work, different and better than hers. One day, her work could be there...but then a figure of her mother appeared and crushed it. She had a mission to do, but that didn't mean she couldn't go get a black marker with Ben.
She tilted her head and smiled at Ben.
"Maybe," she conceded.
That one word was all that Ben needed to grab her arm and drag her out of her room. Mal let a laugh slip out before she could stop it as she was pulled away, leaving the door open. Evie still hadn't looked up.
They went down the hallways and soon Mal had no idea where she was. It's not like she bothered to remember where all her classes were because she didn't care. Not one bit.
Ben and Mal ended up slowing down at the end of a corridor. Ben faced Mal and gestured to the door. He bowed causing Mal to laugh as she walked through the doorway. "Your majesty, your kingdom awaits. "
