<<LEE RIWOO>>
"Sometimes, you don’t set out to save anyone- but love has a way of making you choose them"
The air buzzed with the sound of laughter and the faint jingling of carnival music as Jaehyun trailed behind the group, clutching a stuffed bear he’d won at the dart game earlier.
“Can we go home now?” Jaehyun whined, tugging at Sungho’s sleeve. “It’s late, and my feet hurt. And... I swear that clown over there just winked at me.”
“Jaehyun, for the hundredth time, it’s not a real clown,” Sungho said, exasperated. “It’s a statue. And if you complain one more time, I’m handing you over to the clown.”
Leehan offered Jaehyun his arm, a gentle smile tugging at his lips, “Here, hold on to me. You’ll feel better if we walk together.”
“Thanks,” Jaehyun muttered, clutching his arm like a lifeline.
Riwoo, a few steps ahead, turned back with an eyebrow raised. “You’re all acting like kids. It’s a carnival, not a haunted forest.”
“Yet,” Taesan added. He was the fearless one, the kind who would challenge anyone to a dare without blinking. “Who knows? By midnight, this place might turn into one.”
“Don’t say that,” Jaehyun snapped, “Don’t even joke about it!”
“Relax,” Woonhak added, his tone edged with a hint of amusement. “Taesan’s just messing with you. But, honestly hyung, you’re worse than the kids running around here.”
“Hey! I just have a healthy sense of self-preservation,” Jaehyun retorted.
“Is that what we’re calling cowardice these days?” Riwoo deadpanned, earning a laugh from Taesan.

Arim lagged behind the group, her eyes darting around the carnival. She wasn’t as lively as the others tonight, her usual banter replaced by a quiet unease.
“Arim, are you okay?” Sungho asked, falling into step beside her.
“Huh? Oh, yeah,” she said quickly, forcing a smile. “I’m fine.”
“Liar,” Riwoo muttered as he passed by, catching the flicker of hesitation in her expression.
Arim narrowed her eyes at him. “And you’re so insightful all of a sudden?”
“I just notice things,” Riwoo replied, unbothered.
The group came to a stop in front of the Ferris wheel. It was old, its paint peeling and the lights flickering faintly.
“Who’s up for a ride?” woonhak asked, already stepping forward.
“Nope. Hard pass,” Jaehyun said, backing away.
“I’ll go,” Leehan said, “It looks nice from up there.”
“You think everything looks nice,” Riwoo said, shaking his head.
Arim hesitated, her gaze fixed on the Ferris wheel. “You guys go ahead. I’ll wait here.”
“Come on, Arim,” woonhak called, “What’s the worst that could happen?”
“You’d be surprised,” she muttered under her breath, her voice too low for anyone to hear.

While the rest of the group climbed into the Ferris wheel, Arim stayed behind with taesan, the one who was scared of nothing but heights.
“Why didn’t you go?” he asked, leaning against a nearby railing.
“I just... don’t like heights,” Arim lied.
Taesan gave her a skeptical look but didn’t press further.
As they waited, all of a sudden a man approached, his face partially hidden by the brim of his hat. He was tall and thin, with an unsettling air about him.
“You shouldn’t be here,” he said, his voice low and gravelly.
Arim froze, her heart pounding. “Excuse me?”
“This place isn’t safe,” he continued, his gaze flickering to the Ferris wheel. “Especially not for someone like you.”
“What do you mean, ‘someone like me’?” she asked, her voice sharper than she intended.
The man didn’t answer. Instead, he tipped his hat and disappeared into the crowd.
“Who was that?” taesan asked, his brows furrowed.
“No one,” Arim said quickly. “Let’s just wait for the others.”

Moments later, the rest of the group returned with Jaehyun looking even paler than usual.
“Never again,” he muttered, clutching Leehan’s arm like a lifeline.
“It wasn’t that bad,” Leehan said, patting his back.
“Not that bad?!” Jaehyun exclaimed, “The thing creaked. I thought we were going to fall!”
Riwoo rolled his eyes. “Drama queen”
“Hey, Arim,” woonhak called, his sharp gaze landing on her. “Who was that guy you were talking to?”
“What guy?” she asked, feigning confusion.
“The one in the hat,” Riwoo said, stepping closer.
“Just some weirdo,” Arim replied with a shrug.
Riwoo didn’t look convinced, his eyes narrowing. But before he could press further, the carnival lights flickered suddenly, plunging the area into near darkness.
“What the hell?” Sungho muttered, looking around.
When they were still trying to take in the surroundings, a distorted, tinny version of carnival music began to play, echoing eerily through the empty air.
“I don’t like this,” Jaehyun said, his voice trembling. “I don’t like this at all.”
“You and me both,” Woonhak added.
Taesan, however, was grinning. “Now this is what I call fun.”
“Fun?” Leehan repeated, his wide eyes darting nervously around them. “This doesn’t feel right.”
“Guys,” Arim said, her voice cutting through the growing tension. “We need to move. Now.”
“Why?” Riwoo asked, his voice calm but sharp.
“Because this place isn’t what it seems,” she admitted, her voice tight with urgency.
“And you know that? how?” Riwoo pressed, his suspicion evident.
Arim hesitated, glancing at the shifting shadows around them. “I just do. Trust me.”
“Trust you?” Riwoo repeated, his tone cold. “Not until you tell us the truth.”
Before she could respond, a deep, resonant voice echoed through the carnival:
“Welcome, dear guests. The night has just begun!”
