Chapter 3

Dana's POV

I woke up the next day, the same way as the day before with the sound of loud banging on my door. I swear to God, I'm gonna punch him. Can I not lay in? Just one time?

I rolled over, groaning to show my frustration. "You've gotta be kidding me!"

The door opened but I was surprised to see Pattie walk in instead of Justin. She had a relatively serious expression on her face but I couldn't help but feel like there was an underlying excitement in her mood.

"Dana, can you come downstairs? We're having a family meeting." She asked.

Wow, normally family meetings only happen when me or Justin has really messed up in some way. I couldn't think of anything I'd done to warrant one so that means Justin's obviously in trouble.

"What's wrong Pattie? Everything okay?"

"Yeah, everything's fine. Just come down please."

I was trying to get some indication of what was going on but Pattie wasn't letting anything on so I just got up, pulling my dressing gown and following her downstairs. Justin was sat at the table with a nervous expression and I could already tell that he was wracking his brain for any sign of what he could've done wrong to deserve a meeting like this.

Justin gulped, glancing at me.

"Mom, what is this about?"

Pattie smiled, letting out a small chuckle as I sat down next to Justin at the table.

"Well don't you look nervous. Don't worry Justin, we aren't here to talk about one of the many things you're probably thinking you're guilty of."

I couldn't help laughing at the relief on Justin's face when she said that. It was priceless.

"I had a phone call with Scooter last night and we made a big decision about your career honey. It's something very exciting but it also has it's own consequences." She explains.

Well that's not even slightly ominous. I can't help but feel like she's dragging this out for dramatic effect. Geez, no wonder I'm a drama queen.

After what felt like forever, Justin obviously got impatient.

"Well what is it mom?"

Pattie smiles, looking excited.

"With how well your albums are selling and how big your fan base is getting, we've decided to send you on tour now. Scooter thinks it's a really good move for your career, and although I took a little persuading I trust his judgement. However, I'm not gonna send my 16 year old son out on tour on his own so obviously I'm coming along with you and that means so is Dana." She explains.

Justin pauses for a minute, taking in everything she just said before jumping out of his chair. "That's so frickin' awesome! Why were you so worried about that?"

"Well, like I said, the choice has it's consequences. I'm going to need to sell the house. I know you and Dana are quite attached to this house seeing as you grew up here but we're going to be gona for over 6 months, and I don't see how we can keep it. This is such a huge step for your career Justin, and a necessary one. What do you think?"

I'm not gonna lie, the thought of leaving the home that I've grown up in does break my heart. We have so many memories here but a tour, how can I not be excited about a tour? Justin glanced at me, looking unsure.

"What do you think Dana?"

I smiled at him.

"Pattie is right. We should go! Come on Justin, think how awesome a tour is gonna be. We can find a new house anywhere! This is once in a lifetime!"

Justin thinks for a minute before nodding.

"You're so right. We can't pass this up. When are we leaving mom?"

"I mean, if we can get it all arranged in time with promoters and venues then maybe saturday."

I am hyped for this tour. Tours mean concerts, celebrities, travelling. For a girl who has never been abroad that is a very exciting prospect. Obviously the whole thing is still kind of tinted because of leaving the house but at the same time, the new house could be amazing on the flipside. The positives so heavily outweigh the negatives.

Justin looks so psyched and the fact that Scooter's offering a tour in the first place must mean that he's getting big. Like if they are expecting to be able to sell out venues all for him then his fan base must be growing so quickly, maybe even quicker than I thought it would. It's kinda daunting actually but I'm so happy for him. As long as he knows, no matter who he meets on this tour, I will always be his biggest fan.
