IX. we're all in this together

All four of them were now walking into the forest in a straight line thanks to the rope that Y/n brought. He moved his head left and right as they carefully walked through the towering trees.

“Any sign of the cursed spirit?” Suguru asked from behind as he let out a few cursed spirits of his own to help.

“No.” Y/n answered, irritated. “Scent’s all over the place, makes it hard to track which one leads to the damn thing.”

“Even the cursed energy all over the place.” Shinobu muttered as she placed her sunglasses back on. “Not even my Six Eyes can find which one is which.”

Y/n’s ear perked up for something and he stopped, his instincts already going haywire as the other three halted when he raised his arms. “Stay close.” He told them but he sighed in annoyance when Shinobu walked closer to him and hugged him from behind. “Not that clo—get your fucking hands off me.” He scolded as he forcefully removed her hands around him.

“Ugh.” Shinobu groaned and rolled her eyes but made no move in moving behind him.

Black smoke came from nowhere and started to cover their line of sight which separated them from each other. Y/n waved his hands around but there were no signs from his classmates not even from Shinobu which was unnerving considering that the girl’s only word in her mouth was his name every single day. He continued to moved his arms around until the smoke slowly dissipates and he was now in front of some old temple.

He reluctantly walks inside, his senses on high alert for any signs of trouble and from the corner of his eyes, there was a shadow moving around and his eyes followed it until he feels a presence behind him along with sharp nails being poked at his neck. He glanced behind him to see an objectively attractive woman with black hair, sickly pale skin, fox ears and nine fox tails behind her.

“Who knew we were dealing with a fox.” Y/n commented, amused. “Didn’t expect we were dealing a Nogitsune though.”

The woman grinned deviously as she moved her hand closer to his neck, drawing blood slightly when her nails poked hard enough to do so which made Y/n growl. “I wouldn’t do that if I were you.” He warned her.

Y/n’s eyes widened when he was suddenly thrown across the room, crashing through the wooden pillars making him groan as he fell to the wooden floor. He glared but he was shocked to see the Nogitsune was gone before seeing a mangling, skinny, and tall black fox with razor sharp teeth and unnerving eyes walked out from the shadows, growling with drool falling from its maw. He stared at it before rolling out of the way when it pounced on him.

Y/n hastily stand back up and ran towards the exit of the temple with the Nogitsune hot on his tail, as soon as he got out, he covered himself when the Nogitsune bursts through the entryway as he ducks down when it jumped towards him. He then saw his classmates who were surprised to see him as he is to see them.

“Where were you?!” Shinobu shouted at him.

“Are you seriously gonna fucking yell at me that a fucking Nogitsune lead me all the way here?!” Y/n shouted back at her as he looked back at the Nogitsune who was now staring at them.

The Nogitsune pounced at them when Suguru lets out his rainbow dragon who tackled the Nogitsune away but it bites rainbow dragon by the neck before throwing Suguru’s cursed spirit away as it growled at them.

“Fuck, it’s definitely a special grade alright.” Suguru bit his lips nervously but made no move from his position of standing in front of Shoko and Shinobu. “To think that even rainbow dragon can’t do a thing…”

Y/n immediately sprung into action as he transformed into his divine beast as he tackled the Nogitsune away from the three as he clamped his jaw on its neck. The Nogitsune thrashed as it clawed at him, trying to break free from his hold. He growled angrily as it flailed wildly, it drew blood when its claws slashed his side and it caused for him to let go of his hold as he roared in pain and the Nogitsune tackled him.

Shinobu shoved Suguru to the side as she rushed towards Y/n and moved her hands as soon as she started to manipulate her cursed energy which creates a center of gravity recreating a force to a vacuum. This pulled the Nogitsune away as it dug its claws on the ground and Y/n, in his divine beast form, tackled the Nogitsune as it gets drawn in from the vacuum force of Shinobu’s technique and it was finally exorcised.

The Nogitsune was gone.

Suguru sighed as he helped Shoko up to her feet as Y/n reverted back to his human form but not when his entire right side was bleeding from the huge gash the Nogitsune inflicted. Shinobu rushed over to him and he rolled his eyes when Suguru and Shoko made no intention of stopping her.

Great, princess fucking Snow White is gonna cry because her forced-to-be prince charming got wounded by a big, bad fox who came out from Cthulhu’s vagina.

“Y/n, are you gonna die?” Shinobu questioned, already crying.

Y/n closed his eyes and exhaled through his nostrils out of annoyance. “Just because my entire right side got torn in half doesn’t mean I’m dying.” He sarcastically replied with a roll of his eyes when Shinobu was sobbing, tears and all. “Oh, would you stop being dramatic, I’m standing.” He told her, annoyed the fuck out of his mind.

Suguru and Shoko tentatively walked over to them and winced when Shinobu loudly sniffled and rubbed her now red nose. “Shoko, patch me up.” Y/n sighed as he walked over to her.

“Sure.” Shoko shrugged. “With staples?”

“I don’t fucking know, you’re the medic here, asshole.” Y/n replied. “I’m just the patient who is on life and death situation in front of you.”

“Clearly, you’re the worst fucking patient I have.” Shoko snorted as she examined. “If I could, I would’ve left you here to rot and die.”

“Glad to know that I’m being handled by the worst fucking doctor.” Y/n remarked dreadfully as Shoko started to use her reversed cursed technique on him. “It’s very reassuring that you’re letting me to fall to my demise.”

“Trust me, the thought gets more and more tempting.” Shoko said as she stepped back. “Well, you’re all patched up now, jackass.”

“Thank you, Dr. Phil.” Y/n dryly said as he looked at Shinobu. “I’m all okay now, Madame Snowflake. No need to waste your tears on little ol’ me.” He told her, tone dripping with every sarcasm that he has.

Shinobu sniffled and just went to hug him. Y/n who was clearly fed up and tired with everything just let her do it. Suguru and Shoko both had leaned against each other, clearly dumbfounded to what they were witnessing because never would they ever thought would they witness Shinobu being hugged by Y/n but they guessed they spoke soon enough when Y/n pulled her away from him and lifted her by the scruff of her uniform like a misbehaving cat.

“Job’s well done, let’s go back.” Y/n said as he walked past them but not before dropping Shinobu into Suguru’s arm and then walking away.

“And I thought I was gonna witness character development right then and there.” Suguru said as he let down Shinobu who rushed after Y/n.

“From him?” Shoko asked. “It’s gonna take a long time to see that.”

Suguru: So, what do you plan to do about of Y/n?

Shinobu: Well from Monday to Sunday; I plan to yearn, pine, long, ache, sigh, lament, and crave his love and affection from afar.

Suguru: What else was I expecting?
