Part One.
"Felicity turn the tv on.!" Glaring over at my older brother Barry I rolled my eyes dramatically at him and made my way over to it.
He beat me to it.
"Barry! That's not funny if your going to tease me like that every time then I'm not even going to bother with it." I heard his annoying laughing in return. Starring at the several headlines presented before me at once, I pinched him waiting until he focused on one news channel.
"Your playboy boyfriends home." Frowning up at him I flopped down on our worn out leather couch.
"Excuse me Barry Allen but last time I recall youre the one who became obsessed with Starling City and the Queens after they went missing not me." I grinned watching him giving me his infamous look as he threw his "Star Labs" hoodie on.
"At least I can investigate Mom's death quicker and better than anyone." Silence fell over the near empty living room as the siblings starred at eachother.
"Excuse me Mr. Flash, maybe you should have been that much quicker when were kids when Mom needed help." Hurt flashed across his features, making her fumble with her words quickly.
"I mean...no..not like that. I meant like faster on....yeah nevermind." With a shake of his head, Barry announced he'd be gone for the remainder of the night and that she should stay home and not wait up while doing so.
"Nice going there Felicity Smoak.!" Flopping deeper into the sofa I played with the ends of my blonde curls, looking around the empty house.
I understand why my brother was barely home. Our Mother died here but for some odd reason when the previous owners moved out he took the house forcing me out of Joe's house. I was only fourteen then and he was sixteen. Joe understood Barry's need to have this house in his grip again and rented it out, while Barry and I lived here alone. Well tried to anyway. Whenever Barry was home his friends from Star Labs Cisco, Ronnie and Caitln would follow or his...best friend. ..soon to be girlfriend after a few more dates that is. Iris West.
Joe's daughter.
I suffered in Joe's house more than I did in this one for various reason. One Iris had a strong distaste for me once she found out Barry liked her as more than a friend, Joe refused to allow neither I or Barry to see our Father and on one fatal night when Joe and Barry were arguing again after Joe had forced his daughter to tell him where my brother was that time, she had came into my room and blurted out a secret that would change my world even more. I was only eight and a year had almost passed since Mom's passing and Dad's conviction .
-Flashback.-
Laying beneath her bunny covers, sea green eyes focused on the rain drops sliding down her dew covered window. Little Felicity ignored her tv, and tried her best to ignore her screaming brother and adoptive Father downstairs but to no avail.
As Usual.
"Do you ever wonder why you have two last names.?" But upon hearing that nagging voice Felicity knew she couldn't ignore the pull in her heart when her unwanted adoptive sister had asked that question. Felicity knew she only ever wanted brothers because she felt,.... girls were to much hassle, drama and dare she say it trouble.
"No what's there to wonder about.? My Momma and Papa named me Felicity LeeAnna Smoak-Allen." Sighing loudly the eight year old made her move to roll back over to watch the rain, only to find Iris making her way to the window to close the thick black shades effectively ruining her mood.
"God you're worse than Barry." Turning her nose up at her, Felicity sat upright her wild brownish blonde hair swaying around. She hated her hair, it's like it wanted to make her far to diffrent from her family and she felt Iris West was seconds from making this point just that more painfully clear.
"Seriously. Why doesn't Barry, your Mom or Dad have Smoak in there last name. Why only you.?" Biting into her natrually pink bottom lip Felicity silently bit the bullet with this one and nervously replied still continuing to hear the argument downstairs intensify.
"No Momma just said I was a bit diffrent but that didn't change me, because I was still her's." A annoyed and slightly devious smiled displayed itself over eleven year old Iris's glossy mouth.
"Nope, think again. Your Momma's a dirty liar just like your Daddy. He probably killed your Momma to keep her mouth shut about his dirty little ways." Only being eight Felicity was baffled by how mean Iris could be, never having been exposed to the velocity of child negativity around her. Not even being aware of just how often her slow brother had to run to avoid being harmed himself. Children were cruel.
"You shouldn't say such dirty things about other peoples parents, that's not ever nice.!" Scrunching her nose up until her face turned a bright red Felicity pinched her inner thigh to keep from hitting the older girl. That got her no where last time she had tried such a thing when she was six. Her Mom was there then to break it up.
"You don't deserve to even be in my house. I hate being around you, you're so annoying and you're always butting in when me and Barry spend time together! It's like he's not even MY best friend anymore." Iris was raised to be a smart girl and smart she was. Before she started this conversation she put baby oil , along side little Felicity's bed knowing when her bare feet touched the wooden floors of the room she'd be hurt.
"I locked the door so there's no point of you running to cry to Barry as usual and my Daddies going to work.!" Holding back her bitter words Felicity decided to kill her with kindness.
"I never got in the way of that and he's my big brother! I'm not just going to disappear.!"
"Well you should just like your parents.! You're parents aren't even your parents!." Iris finally snapped back, her words forever twisting Felicity's world.
-End of Flashback.-
"Here now on Central city news we bring to you the amazing news of the return of the great playboy Oliver Queen.!" Moving my eyes to the tv screen, I sighed heavily wondering whose life was turning out to be worse right now. Her's or his? Wondering about other peoples issues, brought some type of peace to her if she didn't know them all to well. It just helped to wonder that maybe someone was going through harder times and she should just be stronger.
"Hnm...Queen Consolidated huh.? Wonder what Starling City's like compared to Central City." So far she knew The Queens were all the hype to rave about there and the great Barry Allen's Mother's death and Father's imprisment was all the hype here. Rethinking about that brought her thoughts right back to her small flashback. Thanks to the great Iris West she not only broke her arm that night but found out that the "Oh so unfortunate" Nora Allen wasn't even her real Mother.
Her stupid sister Emma Allen was.
That woman was nothing but trouble, and I'd learn that right when it was a little to late.
