A Regular Phangirl Ch. 9

A year passes by, while Gabriel and Alice both enjoy each other's company. Unfortunately, Gabriel has to go back to New England, because of the funeral of his dead father. For moral support, Alice insists to come with him. She knows that eventually, she might meet Dan there, but it doesn't matter for her. For she has Gabriel to fill the hole in her heart.

Alice and Gabriel both arrive at London, while Gabriel tries to find a taxi. Alice gets a bit worried and tries to calm down. They managed to quickly find a taxi and go straight to Gabriel's house.

After meeting Gabriel's cousins and parents, they start to load their luggage.

"Babe, I have to go to the funeral now." Gabriel says.

"Oh yeah, let me just get ready."

Babe, it's fine. You don't need to come with me."

"NO!! I'm coming with you, no matter what."

"Babe please, for my sake. I don't want you to feel bad for me in the funeral . It's fine."

"You sure, babe? I can just be outside and wait for you."

"Yeah, I'm sure."

"Okkay then babe............"

"Don't worry, babe. I don't want you to think that I don't want you there. It's just that it would also break my heart to see you cry too."

He gives a kiss to Alice, as she pouts and gives him a tight hug.

"Don't cry too much now!" Alice says.

"Haha, I probably will."

Once Gabe leaves, Alice wonders to herself what should she do now. She thought of bringing Gabe's cousins out, but forgot that they're also in the funeral too.

"I guess it's time for me to have my own free time." Alice says to herself.

"Alright then. Starbucks it is!!"

She finally arrives at Starbucks and noticed a similar person. As usual, she orders a Vanilla Bean Frappe and waits for her order. "ALICE, One Vanilla Bean Frappe, grande."

She thanks the clerk and asks the person next to her:

"Excuse me, but can you pass me a straw?"

"Sure" says the man that she loved turns his head and gives her a straw. Dan was wearing his headphones, so not hearing Alice's name didn't affect him.

Both surprised, Alice grabs the straw and runs off. Luckily, Dan stops her from running away by holding her wrist.

"Is that all your gonna do to me, Alice? Run away from me?!" Dan says.

"Look, I'm pretty busy now, so I have to go."

"Liar. Let's just settle things here and now."

Without looking into Dan's eyes, she says okay, since they both think that this bs needs to stop now.

"So.......how are you?" Dan asks.

" Good, I guess. I have a boyfriend now."

"Ohhh..........that's good."

Inside of him frowns and plans to continue the conversation.

"Soo... two years later,huh? You still in uni?

"Yeah, I'm about to graduate this year from getting a degree of being a professional artist."

"That's good... Wait, Alice, can I see your hand?"

She tries to resist, but Dan pulls up her long sleeve to reveal the cut wounds she did to herself.

"When was this!?" Dan said

"It's none of your business, Dan. It's the past now."

"Don't tell me it was your now boyfriend that did this to you?!"

"No, Dan!! Stop assuming that it's my boyfriend, cause it's not!"

He now sees that it probably was his fault and started to feel guilty.

"Alice, I'm sorry."

"No need to apologize. You didn't do anything to hurt me."

"No, you're lying. I know I hurt you a lot more than you hurt me. I know I cannot go back to the past; the inevitability of going back in time is impossible. But I want to apologize for what I said and start things back over. Back when we talked about random topics that made us sound crazy."

"Do you know how it feels to be humiliated by your favorite person, huh!?'

"Yeah. That one prank call from Pete Wentz."

"Oh yeah... But anyways, we both got hurt from our presence and companionship. And I feel like I might hurt you again, so I don't think we can stay in touch. Sorry Dan, but I really need to be at my boyfriend's house right now, so nice meeting you here."

Alice stands up and walks away, leaving Dan behind. Dan doesn't know what to do; should he just let her walk away or run to her? Trying to make a quick decision, he immediately stands up, but spills his coffee in his crotch. He quickly takes the tissue on the table and wipe it off. Still, it didn't stop him to run after Alice. Once he reaches Alice, he hugs her tightly behind, while tons of people watch this scene.

"Wu....What are you doing, Dan!? Let go of me!You're embarrassing yourself in front of these people!!" Aice said.

"I know. This is a stupid decision for me to do, but I'm not gonna let you go this time. I really want you to know that I really do like you. Yeah I said it! I like you, Alice Collings!!"

"Well, your too late to say that. After all, this isn't a Disney story, where I fall in love with you, leave my boyfriend, and everything is a happy ending. No, it's not like that, Dan. This is reality that were facing and you know it too. Like you said, we only made contact for only two days, right?It's not enough for a person to love someone back in just two days."

As soon as Dan's embrace becomes loose, Alice frees herself and continues to walk away. While she is, she begins to tear up, as the crowd says,"You'll get her someday." and "Damn, that's pretty rough, man." Dan just stands there, frowning and thinking to himself,"I fucked this up."
