Prologue

Prologue

“when is your school holiday, darling?” my mother called from the kitchen when I got down for breakfast.

“morning, mom, it’s in two days” I answered grabbing the bowl of cereal and carton of milk.

“I’m leaving for Manila for a week, do you want to do with me?” she was on the counter typing something on her laptop.

“yeah sure why not, some shopping, it’ll be fun a little mother and daughter time, like the old days”

“I’m having a meeting actually two meetings and the rest we could have it all to our self” I nodded and started eating my breakfast. This is going to be fun, mom is a business woman, she owns a business here, in Manila and in Dubai, mostly here in Brunei.

I finished eating my first round of cereal poured more and finish it finally feeling full, “I better get ready for school”

“oh, wait, there is no flight in two days, but there is one tomorrow night but you’re going to have to pack later when you get back”

“yeah sure mom, I’ll get my things ready it’s only for a week, and I am sure that I am going to buy some outfit there so no worries” I walked to her and gave her a kiss before going back into my room to get ready.

I’m a half Filipino my mother is a Filipino but my tagalong is rusty, like a baby with its first words rusty. What I hate about the Philippines is that when I got shopping, sales ladies get all bitchy up, I always had to go with my cousin but I doubt my cousin is at manila at the moment, last I heard he was in California, guess I got to practice my tagalong before I leave and please if they bitch up on me than they don’t know who they’re dealing with.
