This chapter was inspired by some of the wonderful writers over on tumblr. I can't name name's, but the short stories and headcanons on the luffy x reader tag give me life, fr.

That being said, I wanted to mention that Luffy and the reader will be having a lil private moment in the next chapter... what we feelin' they should talk about?

I have a couple things already planned for conversations and 'getting to know each other,' but if there's anything you guys have that you'd want to see I'm always open to suggestions!! Can't promise I'll use everything, but I can maybe use an idea for a later time as well!

Lmk, happy reading!!

Luffy sits bewildered, staring into the glares of his navigator and sharpshooter across the table. The room is completely absent of light, save for the one that shines down on the middle of the table, just barely illuminating their stony-faces.

The captain had no idea what was happening right now. He was walking by the storage room one minute, then unwillingly dragged through the door the next; Usopp's hand clasped over his mouth to muffle the boy's angry shouting as he went. Luffy was tossed into a random chair, and was sternly told to keep quiet in the tense atmosphere, which was probably the only reason he actually obeyed. The longer the three of them sit in silence, the more he feels the sweat moisten his brow. You could actually hear him swallow his own nerves down, the gulp dropping like a stone into water.

"Uh... did I do something? What's goin' on...?" The captain finally broke the silence, jaw clenched with uncertainty. They looked really mad, and any time Nami was mad at him was not a good time.

Thwack!

Usopp pulls a stick out of nowhere, whipping it against the chalkboard that was placed behind the two; something that Luffy hadn't noticed before. Displayed on its dark green surface were a few words scrawled in white chalk, Dating 101. What the hell?

"Okay, Luffy..." Usopp responds finally, tone more grim than Luffy had expected. "It's time we teach you a thing or two about what it means to be a good boyfriend."

Luffy blinked, absolutely lost. Then, his eyebrows furrow, offended. "Hey... I am a good friend. What the hell do I need to learn for?"

"Boyfriend. Not friend." Nami corrects, hands interlaced before her lips menacingly; bringing forward her inner mafia boss persona. "We're talking about you and (Y/n)."

"I already told you that we made up, why are you guys still being so annoying about it?!" The captain growls, aggravated that his crew didn't believe him for some reason. What the heck were they so worried for, anyways? You both were fine!

"A good boyfriend doesn't almost kill their girlfriend every time they go on an adventure! Didn't she almost drown at that fortress because of you?" Nami berates, slamming her hands onto the table in warning. Luffy flinched away from the onslaught. "We're trying to help you out, idiot!"

"B-But I didn't do it on purpose– She said she forgave me for that!" The boy objects earnestly, though his words are betrayed by the lingering-twist of his gut. He still felt awful for what he'd done.

"So you're just gonna let something like that happen again?!" The redhead interrogated, Usopp nodding in agreement as back-up. "Don't you at least want to make up for it?"

"I'm not gonna do it again–!" The captain chokes on his denial, remembering the distant sight of you coughing and gagging in Zoro's hold after the bridge collapsed from his doing; how he could feel every ounce of terror in your bond while you barely clung to life. Then, again, when the two of you sat on the rocks, where you soothed all of his fears despite the fact that it should have been the other way around. Luffy hasn't paid you back for that yet, has he? "Well... Yeah, I-I do..."
