It's a wonderful and sunny morning and the best time to head off for my regular skating classes. Everytime I walk through the gates of the rink, past memories flood my head, making me giggle. My two amazing coaches, Mr and Mrs Walts (who are such big fanatics of skating that they named themselves after an element in it) stand there waiting for me, holding a rather heavy parcel in their hands and reading a paper. I can't make out much, but I can faintly see FSA written behind the paper- Figure Skating Association for all those who don't know! As they see me approach, they quickly hide the papers behind them and act as if nothing happened.

I push the thought away and run toward them because right now, I'm getting a new set of skates. My previous ones are around 3 years old and they're all tight and torn apart. I grab their heavy parcel and tare it open, to see a brand new, squeaky clean pair of skates. And trust me when I say this, wearing new skates is like starting your life all over again, with all your black marks wiped out.

As I start skating, I am transported to a whole new world! The breeze hitting against my face, the energy urging to burst out from within me and the silence magnifying this effect of heaven.... Nothing can make me happier.

After a while, I decide to do my freestyle programmes, the hardest part. I connect my speakers to my phone and plonk it right in the centre of the rink. My coaches watch eagerly to see if I have improved in anyway. I make my way to my starting position and slowly, the music starts to play.

Half- way through my routine, I notice a family walking towards my coaches- A tall, middle- aged, blonde haired man, a shorter, slim looking woman with the loveliest brown locks I've ever seen, and a tall boy, resembling the man standing next to him, who looked around my age, start talking to my coaches.

As I continue, my programme brings me to the connor of the rink, where the party is standing, and the boys eyes catch mine, making me lose my balance. I fall with a thud so loud, you could hear it miles away.

"Stupid boy. You distracted me", I hear myself whisper under my breath.

I get back up and start my routine all over again.

I end it with my final jump, which finishes the programme and I hear applause. I skate back, tired, as if the soul inside of me has been sucked out, and proceed to gulp down some energy drink who's television advertisement has got my mother believing that drinking it can give me enough energy to run cross country in the span of five minutes!

Mrs. Walts sees that I've completed my routine and walks towards me. "Meet the Riveras" she says, signalling to the family.
"This is Jacob, and he will be our new student, and probably your new skating partner!"

I smile at him and we shake hands. And I think I finally might just have a fresh start!
