Idea of the scenario :

Basically sunshine x bad bitch.

The oneshot :

The town was alive with the sounds of laughter, the hum of rides and the sweet scent of cotton candy wafting through the summer air. The annual carnival had arrived and everyone from school seemed to be there.

Amidst the crowd, Nanase, the beloved football player and known ray of sunshine, stood out– not just because of his warm, infectious smile but because of the fierce beauty walking beside him, gripping his hand like she was daring anyone to say something about it.

[Y/n], with her eyes sharp as ice and long hair cascading down her back, was the epitome of "bad girl" confidence. She wore her signature jacket over a fitted black crop top and large black jeans, her black boots clinking against the pavement. Though shorter than Nijiro, her presence made people step aside instinctively.

She was the kind of girl you didn't mess with. Fights ? She'd win them. Teachers ? She talked back without hesitation. Snide comments ? She had comebacks sharper than broken glass.

So when word spread that Nanase, the boy who greeted everyone with kindness and smiled like the sun itself, was dating her, people were baffled.

But Nanase didn't seem to care about the whispers. Right now, he was too busy bouncing on the balls of his feet, pointing at every colorful booth and ride like an excited kid.

"[Y/n], look ! They have the ring toss ! Oh, and— did you see the Ferris wheel ? It's huge !" He exclaimed, his light-purple eyes practically glowing.

She rolled her eyes, though there was a hint of amusement in her smirk. "Calm down, sunshine. It's just a carnival."

"Just a carnival ?" He stopped in his tracks, his mouth dropping open in exaggerated disbelief. "[Y/n], this isn't just a carnival. It's an adventure !"

She scoffed but couldn't hide the warmth creeping into her chest. Only Nanase could make something so ordinary seem magical. "You're ridiculous", she muttered, tugging him forward by the hand.

"Ridiculously lucky to be here with you", he shot back, his grin widening.

[Y/n]'s cheeks flushed pink but she turned her head away before he could see. No one else could get away with that kind of cheesy sweetness– but this was Nanase. He was the only one who could pull it off.

They stopped at a booth where players had to knock down stacked bottles with a ball to win prizes. [Y/n]'s sharp eyes immediately zeroed in on the oversized stuffed bear perched at the top.

"Wait here", she ordered, letting go of his hand and striding up to the counter.

"[Y/n], you don't have to—"

"Shut up, Nijiro. I'm winning you that bear", she cut him off, her tone brooking no argument.

(Get yourself a (wo)man like [Y/n] 😌)

She handed the attendant her tickets and picked up the first ball, weighing it in her hand like a seasoned pro. A small crowd gathered, curious to see what she'd do.

The first throw knocked the top bottles clean off. The second and third took care of the rest. The crowd erupted in surprised cheers as the attendant handed her the giant bear, looking a little shaken. [Y/n] smirked as she turned back to Nanase, the massive stuffed animal almost as big as her.

"Here", she said, shoving it into his arms. "Figured you'd cry if you didn't get it."

He hugged the bear tightly, his smile so bright it could have powered the Ferris wheel. "[Y/n] ! This is amazing ! Thank you !"

"Yeah, yeah", she muttered, crossing her arms. "Don't make a big deal out of it."

"But it is a big deal", he insisted, still grinning. "You're amazing !"

Her blush deepened but she hid it behind her usual tough exterior. "You're lucky I like you, sunshine", she muttered under her breath.

"What was that ?" He teased, leaning closer.

"Nothing. Shut up", she said, lightly shoving his shoulder.

As they wandered through the carnival, the whispers followed them.

"How does someone like Nanase date someone like her ?"
"He's so sweet and she's so... scary."
"I heard she got in a fight with 3 guys last week and won."

[Y/n] heard every word and though she didn't care what anyone thought, she glanced at Nanase to see if it bothered him. But he just kept smiling, completely unbothered, waving at classmates and chatting briefly when they greeted him.

One girl from school, clearly nervous, approached him with a shy smile. "Hi, Nijiro ! Um, I just wanted to say you played really well at last week's game."

"Oh, thank you so much !" He replied warmly.

Before the girl could say anything else, [Y/n] stepped forward, her presence instantly intimidating. "Yeah, thanks for the compliment", she said flatly. "Move along, bitch."

The girl squeaked and scurried off, and Nanase blinked at her, looking half-amused, half-confused.

"[Y/n], that was a little harsh", he said softly.

"Don't care", she replied, glaring at the retreating girl. "Only I get to call you Nijiro. Or sunshine. Got it ?"

He chuckled, his eyes softening as he looked at her. "Got it."

When they reached the Ferris wheel, [Y/n] hesitated for a moment. Heights weren't exactly her favorite, but her boyfriend's excitement was too contagious to resist. As the gondola rose, she found herself relaxing, leaning back against the seat.

Nanase, ever the chatterbox, pointed out the view below, marveling at the colorful lights and bustling crowd. [Y/n], however, found her gaze drifting to him instead. His happiness was so genuine, so pure, that it made her chest ache in the best way.

"You really are too good for me", she murmured, almost to herself.

He turned to her, surprised. "What are you talking about ? You're incredible, [Y/n]. I'm the one who doesn't deserve you."

She snorted, but there was no real bite to it. "You're such a dork."

"And you're perfect", he replied without hesitation.

She stared at him for a moment, her tough exterior cracking just enough for her to lean her head on his shoulder. "You're lucky I let you stick around", she muttered, her voice soft.

He smiled, resting his head gently against hers. "Luckiest guy in the world."

As the Ferris wheel descended, they walked hand in hand through the carnival, Nijiro carrying the giant bear on his back like a backpack. People still stared, still whispered, but neither of them cared.

Because no one else mattered. Not to him, who adored [Y/n] exactly as she was. And not to her, who, though she'd never admit it out loud, couldn't imagine her life without her sunshine.
