Love Searching

Our mother arrived here a day later, so we had to find ourselves something to eat for dinner. Hunter was being a little pussy so I had to cook dinner for the four of us. I felt like I had just cooked a buffet for twenty.

Today I would be 'love searching' as Cam called it. I was going to start at the park and then just see if the right one falls in my path. That's how imprinting usually goes anyway. Hunter laughs when I say I'm going to go love searching. Today he laughed so hard, he hit the floor. I was a bit hurt but I went on with my day anyway.

I walked to the nearest park in my raincoat and rain boots. I looked like a complete loser who has nothing better to do but take a walk through the park in a thunderstorm. But maybe I'll find someone who enjoys thunderstorms just as much as I do. I doubt it though. I need more time to do this. I could find love if there wasn't a time limit.

I jumped into every puddle to keep me amused like a seven year old, I had to kill time somehow. I leaned over the railing on the bridge that overlooked the stream and waterfall, it was so beautiful. The flowers that were against the rocks, starting to bloom.

"It's beautiful, isn't it?" Came a soft voice from behind me. The voice sent chills down my spine, I know this voice. I gulped before turning to face him.

"Charlie."  I gasped.

"Sky?" He brought my hood down on my coat so he could see all of me.

"Yes, it's me." My voice was very gloomy. Charlie is my ex-best friend from Montana. It was a big fight about our future that tore us apart. I told him that I'm probably never going to see him again after high school, that we are going to go our separate ways. He was so hurt that he ended our friendship right there, sophomore year.

"What are you doing here?" He asked, looking into my eyes. His hurt eyes.

"I live here now, what about you?" I chose my words very carefully.

"Visiting family for spring break." When he said that, I was crushed for some reason.

"So why do you live here?" He asked, curiosity getting the best of him.

Crap! I didn't think I would have to explain this to anyone. I said the first thing that came to mind.

"We have family here too and we were growing out of our house in Montana." I said, shrugging my shoulders, trying to sound casual.

"In March? School is almost over." He pointed out. Crap!

"Yea, my mom couldn't take it anymore." I laughed, trying to ease this awkward run in.

"Will I see you around?" He asked, his eyes hopeful. Oh how I missed his green eyes.

"Yea, sure." I smiled. It felt like ages since I last smiled.

"Cool. Text me." I flinched at his last words. Are we going to reconcile?

I just waved and smiled again, running home once he was out of sight. I nearly knocked the door down when I reached home.

"Slow down there kiddo." Gabe teased.

"What's the hurry, dear?" Mom questioned.

"Charlie is here." I spat out.

"Wait? The kid that broke your heart? That Charlie?" Cam sat up from the couch and came over to me.

"Yes. He's visiting family for spring break."

"Did you guys talk?" My mother chopped the carrots for the stew.

"Yes, it was brief but he wants to see me again and I think I want to see him too." I whispered the last part.

"Why?" Hunter peeked his head in. He looked worried like he lost a bet or something.

"I want to catch up." I admitted, blushing.

"And you don't think this catching up isn't going to lead to him finding the fur on your body?" Hunter said, always making sexual references.

"HUNTER! She's sixteen!" Mother scolded him with the dish rag. I couldn't help but laugh.

"It's not like that Hunter." I reminded him, going into my room. I wanted to scream when I found my bedroom destroyed. The window was wide open with no screen, letting the rain pour in and the blinds were all tangled, my pillow stuffing everywhere, books tossed around and a sticky substance that sent me crashing into the window.

"HUNTER! CAMDEN! GABRIEL!" I screamed with so much force, I think Canada heard it.

They all came stumbling in the room, my mother right behind them. Hunter was holding onto the wall for support as he began laughing. I heard a chuckle or two out of Gabe and Cam stood silent with his mouth in an 'O' shape.

"What has happened in here?" My mother was appalled. She came through the door and slipped on the sticky substance that I had slipped on. Hunter laughed even harder.

"Dude, knock it off." Gabe slapped him.

"Who did this?" My mom asked, starting to clean everything up.

I joined in as well but mother stopped me, "You're bleeding Sky, go clean yourself up. I'll take care of this." My mom said.

I brushed passed the morons and went to the bathroom which was down the hall but I didn't go in, I stood in the hallway quietly listening to their conversation.

"Guys, who did this?" Mom asked, her tone of voice, irritated.

"It was me." Hunter said, his tone becoming more serious.

"Why? So you would get the room?"

"N-no." He stuttered.

"Hunter, why are you stuttering? Just tell me why." She said.

He was looking at me like he lost a bet or something.

Those words made their way into my brain again. He lost a bet, so he took his anger out on my room. Out on me. The bet was about me.
