A/N: as promised here's the second and final part.
The warmth of the sun had shifted by late afternoon, casting long, golden rays into Riri's tiny dorm room. They hadn't moved much, content to stay wrapped in the kind of quiet that felt safe, even healing. Shuri rested her head against the wall, Riri curled into her side, both lost in the gravity of what had just passed between them.
"You're quiet," Riri murmured, her voice soft but laced with curiosity. She glanced up at Shuri, who seemed lost in thought, her fingers absentmindedly tracing circles on Riri's arm.
Shuri tilted her head, a faint smile tugging at her lips. "I'm thinking," she said, her accent wrapping around the words in a way that always made Riri's stomach flutter.
"About what?"
"You." Shuri's gaze softened as she shifted to face Riri fully, her hands framing Riri's face with gentle care. "About how I almost lost this... lost us."
Riri chuckled lightly, though her eyes betrayed the emotion she felt. "You didn't lose me, Shuri. I just needed..." She paused, her words faltering as she tried to explain. "I needed to feel like I wasn't just an afterthought. Like I wasn't going to get left behind."
Shuri's face fell slightly, guilt flickering in her dark eyes. "You were never an afterthought," she said earnestly. "But I see now that I didn't show you that. I let myself get so consumed with everything else that I forgot..." She took a deep breath, steadying herself. "I forgot that you're the one thing that reminds me why I fight so hard in the first place."
Riri's lips parted, a small gasp escaping her. She didn't know how to respond, but Shuri didn't give her the chance. Leaning forward, Shuri kissed her—soft, slow, deliberate. It wasn't rushed, wasn't hurried. It was as if Shuri was trying to pour every unsaid word, every apology, into that one kiss.
The air in the room shifted, growing warmer. Shuri pulled back just enough to press her forehead to Riri's, her hands sliding down to her waist. "I've missed this," she admitted, her voice barely audible.
"Me too," Riri whispered, her fingers threading through Shuri's braids. The intensity of Shuri's gaze made her heart race. It felt like they were on the edge of something, balancing between the raw emotions of their reconciliation and the unspoken desire simmering beneath the surface.
Without breaking eye contact, Riri slipped her hands down Shuri's arms, her touch slow and deliberate. "You're staring again," she teased, though her voice came out breathier than she'd intended.
Shuri smirked, leaning in to graze her lips against Riri's ear. "Can you blame me?" Her voice was low, laced with that magnetic charm Riri could never resist.
The kiss that followed was nothing like the first. This one burned, unearthing every buried feeling they'd carried over the weeks apart. Shuri's hands explored the curve of Riri's back, while Riri tugged Shuri closer, closing every inch of space between them. The tiny dorm room seemed to shrink even further, the air heavy with their shared heat and longing.
The rain outside had turned to a gentle patter against the window, the rhythm syncing with their shared breaths. After what felt like hours, they finally stilled, lying tangled together on Riri's narrow bed. The room smelled faintly of rain and something unmistakably theirs—a mix of warmth, intimacy, and unspoken promises.
Riri rested her head on Shuri's chest, listening to the steady beat of her heart. For a long time, neither of them spoke, content to exist in the quiet. But Riri finally broke the silence, her voice soft. "You're really going to leave Wakanda for a while just to stay here?"
Shuri's fingers gently traced patterns along Riri's shoulder. "Not forever," she admitted. "Wakanda needs me, but I need this—us. I can't keep splitting myself in two and hoping it works." She tilted Riri's chin up, meeting her gaze. "So, I'll find a way. I'll be here as often as I can. No more distance, no more guessing how we feel. Just... us, together."
Riri blinked back tears, her lips curving into a small, wobbly smile. "You really are dangerous, Princess."
"And you're a genius," Shuri teased, leaning down to kiss her forehead. "Together, we're unstoppable."
The sunset outside cast a soft glow across the room, wrapping them in a cocoon of warmth. They stayed there for the rest of the evening, talking, laughing, and planning. It wasn't perfect—there were still questions, uncertainties about how they'd balance their worlds—but for now, they were exactly where they wanted to be.
As the city outside buzzed with life, the two of them remained tucked away in their little corner of the world, holding onto each other and the quiet hope of a love that could weather anything.
