The rest of training passed with awkward moments and small smiles. After we were done, James smiled at me and I went to go get changed into some warm clothes. When I came out of the change rooms, I saw James waiting outside with his back turned to me. Should I talk? I thought to myself. Why am I so nervous? I hate this so much! Quick think of something witty and clever, I thought.

"Hey, you getting picked up?" I asked timidly. Wow Rayne. That was witty and smart.

It was 7.00 at night so it was quite dark and there was no one else around. He gently turned around to face me, his eyes twinkling in the moonlight.

"Yeah, mum should be coming soon I think," he said smirking slightly. "Hey have you got facebook?"

I looked up at the stars. I did actually have facebook but I hardly went on it anymore

"Yeah I've got it." I replied quietly.

"Sweet. I'll add you tonight." he said, his eyes wandering up and down my body. I was only wearing shorts and a tiny top that was too tight. I blushed bright red but thankfully it was too dark for him to make it out.

"I-I-I y-yeah okay," I stuttered. I blushed deep red again and strategically looked the other way.

He chuckled lightly, "Cool"

There was an awkward silence. It was so unfair that I had to fall for a guy like him! He's probably got girls hanging off him from all over the place. And besides, why would he like me anyway? There's probably some beautiful girl out there waiting for him. It hurt to admit it, but he deserved someone better than me and I didn't deserve someone like him.

All of a sudden we saw headlights coming our way and I hoped it was my mum. I squinted against the bright light and saw that it was in fact my mum!

"Um, see you later?" I said but it sounded like a question.

"I'll add you on facebook tonight ok?" he asked.

"Yeah sure thing, see you tomorrow afternoon!" I replied as I opened the car door.

I hopped in the car and put on my seatbelt, then looked out to where James was sitting. He was smiling and waving so I waved back gently.

"Hey mum!" I said once we had driven away.

"Hey Rayne how was diving?" she said.

"It was great!" I replied enthusiastically.

My mum was the best. She was just like me but older and had  a really great sense of humour. She was also really pretty and appeared young so people often mistook her as my older sister. That was okay. She didn't mind it one bit.

"It's a compliment!" She would always say.

She acted like my older sister anyway and I loved her to pieces.

We drove home in silence though and soon we were pulling into the driveway. Something seemed different though and I looked around to try and figure out what it was. Then I realised Dad's car wasn't in the garage.

"Hey mum, where's dad?" I asked.

Mum looked away. "He's not coming home tonight," she said.

I looked around, trying figure out why. Maybe he was out on a work trip or out at a dinner for work or something like that. Then I looked over at Mum who had tears in her eyes.

"Mum, whats wrong?!" I asked frantically. Mum never ever cried.

"Your father and I are getting a divorce," she said, her voice quivering. "I begged him to stay I really did Rayne. You have to understand that ok?"

I sat there in the car and hugged Mum as tears pricked my own eyes But I couldn't let her see me cry too, it would only make her feel worse. I nodded slowly and gently pushed her out of the car and  into our living room. My little sister Lily was sitting on the lounge watching Playschool and she looked at us curiously. She was only 8 and was probably wondering why Mum was crying and why I looked so upset. I ordered some pizza for dinner seeing as mum was in no state to cook or do anything really except sit on the lounge and stare blankly at the TV.

When the pizza arrived, I gave 2 pieces to each of us and went up to my room. I grabbed my laptop and logged onto facebook, hoping James had already added me. When I looged on it came up with '1 new friend request' I clicked on it and found that it was in fact James. He had a gorgeous photo of him out at the beach showing of fhis abs while he was out in the water smiling happily. The photo made me smile too and I clicked confirm request.

Then I went onto his page to see if he had anymore photos. I may hav done a bit of a stalk but I felt obliged too. He didn't have many, but the ones he did have were amazing! I then looked at his friends list and to my dismay, he had 933 friends. As I scrolled down I saw that the majority of them were girls. Girls who were probably pretty and nice and kind and everything that I wasn't. Well I  guess I was a little bit nice, but probably not as nice and interesting as these other girls.

I was about to close the window when I heard a popping noise. I looked at my screen curiously and found that I had a message from James in the chat. I clicked it and the chat opened:

James: hey :)

Rayne: hi!

James: how are you?

Rayne: not so great

James: what's up?

Rayne: nothing really, I might tell you tomorrow

James: ok. just as long as you're not too upset?

Rayne: yeah of course. I'm fine don't worry

James: I'm worrying..

Raye: please don't. It's okay!

James: if you say so. Hey sorry Rayne but I've got to go. See you tomorrow?

Rayne: yeah sure. See you then

James: bye x

I let my eyes linger on the x wondering if he did that for every girl. He proabably does. I lay back on  my bed and looked at the ceiling. Boys sucked so much.

I was exhausted so I got in my pjs and hopped into bed hoping to forget about James, Mum and Dad.
