————[Third Person POV]————

The camera slowly pans down as a large region carefully fades into view. This was the Sinnoh region, a place in the world of Pokémon that was previously known as Hisui many years ago. But over time, the region has since grown and flourished, as have the people and Pokémon who now live together in harmony. Although, there are those who have attempted to try and destroy Sinnoh; some of these being none other than Team Galactic, led by their notorious leader, Cyrus who once sought out to destroy the world and to rebuild it in his image without any spirit of emotions.

Thankfully, this plan was thwarted due to the valiant efforts of a young boy known as Duncan Baxter. Let's check in on him and see how he's doing.

The camera soon fades out and then a shot of a nice-looking house with its windows lit up in the night sky. As the camera zooms in, we can see the house much more clearly.

The camera then pans up towards one of the upper windows just as a young male voice rang out in very minor frustration

(???): Oh, come on! Seriously?! You just caught it for crying out loud!!!

Following the voice, the camera zooms in through the window and stops on a 14 year old boy named Duncan Baxter. He was just a normal kid who usually had a rather nervous expression on his face, but not this time as Duncan was currently feeling a little bit annoyed at the moment.

—————[Duncan's POV]—————

Right now, I was still in utter disbelief and shock as to why Paul had just released a random Stantler that he had just caught, and all because it knew the move Tackle. I did sort of understand that Paul would only catch any Pokémon that he saw as strong, and it really annoyed me when he was actually like a total jerk towards Ash and pretty much those he met. But I did feel a lot better when Paul had a major change of heart.

And what really bothered me was how quickly Paul would release a Pokémon that he caught after looking over their moves. That really got under my skin whenever this happened, which I just hated.

I just watched as the episode went on before I then paused it so that I could think to myself.

(Duncan): [sighs] Paul, Paul, Paul. Why did you have to be such a moron in the beginning, huh? Oh well. Not that I'm really complaining.

But it soon got me to thinking about the Diamond and Pearl games that I used to play back when I was a kid. I then gently placed my hand against my mouth and I then thought for a moment. I hadn't really played the games since around about a few years back, and I missed playing it quite a lot as a child.

After thinking things through, I turned the TV off and then grabbed my DS from the table before I soon went up to my room. Upon entering, I felt a wave of both calm and relaxation wash over me as I slowly into the room that I had always slept in.

Even though my room didn't really look like much, it still felt cosy. Well, just cosy enough for me at the very least. As I went up to my bed, I then took my shoes off as I climbed into bed before I then opened up my DS and before selecting Pokémon Diamond as the familiar intro played out.

(Duncan): Jeez, I don't even know how long it's been since I've last played this game.

When the save files showed up, I was quite shocked to see that my main file had over 300 hours of play time logged into it. Then again, I did spend quite a lot of time Shiny Hunting and getting most of the version exclusives. I then began to go over my options before I clicked on a new save life and decided to do a new run.

But before I pressed "Confirm", I put on some calming music to help keep me in the zone as I played. With just an entire hour left to spare before my parents' return, I was quite determined to enjoy my time to myself. After their arrival, it would be time for the mundane task of shopping for school supplies.

Closing my rather tired eyes, I just let the opening chords of the music wash over me, my thoughts lingering on Paul, the Diamond and Pearl anime series and if Paul's personal journey went differently.

(Duncan): [yawns] Anyone... could do better... than that.

As I thought about this, my annoyance slightly flared again. But as the song just played on and on, as a huge wave of unexpected tiredness swept over me. It was strange to think that just moments ago, I had been full of energy.

Yawning, I had decided to surrender to a quick nap, slowly drifting off to sleep as the music enveloped me in a comforting lull. However, what was I was unaware of was the growing aura around my body...

[JunkBot]: Oooh; a cliffhanger, eh? Well, it seems like Duncan certainly has his life cut out for him. Let me know what you guys think so far. I accept any kind of advice or any criticism from you guys, if you have any that is. Anyways, I hope you enjoy!
