Character Overview:
This male Torterra is a Grass/Ground-type Pokémon owned by Duncan Baxter, having been given to him by Professor Rowan after being used to fight off a pair of wild Starly as a Turtwig. Under his care, Turtwig soon evolved into a Grotle and later into Torterra while also helping Duncan win many of main his key battles in terms of Gym battles in Sinnoh or fights against many other rival trainers as well as Team Galactic. Torterra is also one of Duncan's two main Starters.

Physical Appearance:
Torterra is a tall, bulky, quadrupedal Pokémon resembling a tortoise, with a large shell covering its back. There is a single, oak-like tree and three triangular, stony extensions resembling mountain peaks on the top of the shell. There is a patch of brown, resembling soil, next to the tree. A large white rim surrounds the shell and also forms a diamond-shaped continuation on the front. Torterra's body appears sectioned, with the upper half being green and the lower half brown. Its mouth is jagged, which also gives it the appearance of a snapping turtle. It also has a black nose. Its lower jaw is green and there are two large spikes protruding from its cheeks. Torterra's small, red eyes are encircled by a black ring. Its legs are thick and they also have four toes each, which appear as if they are actually big jagged stones. There are three toes on the front and one on the heel.

Personality & Characteristics:
In his debut appearance as a Turtwig, Torterra is shown to be nice, kind and a very street-smart Pokémon who shares other Pokémon's food and giving them some fruits. He's also shown to be very overprotective to fellow Pokémon when he protects Chimchar from some wild Starly. Torterra is also shown to settle feuds with angry Pokémon. Whenever he sees someone he likes, such as Duncan and Professor Rowan, he is usually seen biting down onto their heads in affection. Torterra has a close relationship with both Duncan and his teammates, especially with Dawn's Piplup and Infernape, who are his other best friends. He was a brave yet also a very kind Pokémon with high confidence even when he was still very small for his size. He had a strong jaw, as he was often seen latching himself onto people and Pokémon's heads, tails, hats, and appendages to either attack or show some form of affection. He often latched onto Duncan's head just prior to evolving. After evolving into Grotle, he became far less active due to his weight gain, but he still battled well but taking things slowly. His strategy for battle has changed as a result, focusing more on tanking hits over dodging them, something he struggled to accept until he got help from Gardenia's own Torterra.
