For the rest of the lunch break, nothing really happens except the cruel insults like always
I don't mind though
What I do mind is why Abhay has been glaring at me when he thinks I'm not looking
His glare is scarier that Nicholas's. Nicholas's glare is like an angry bully, it is very intimidating but Abhay's scares me because he is the nice guy
Why would a nice guy like that glare at me? Is it because I didn't meet him behind the gym after school the other day?
When Emy is busy staring at something on her phone, I ask the question I've been wanting to ask for a long time to Abhay
"Is something wrong? Your looking at me like you hate me or something" I say
He quickly covers it up with a smile, it looks genuine, but I've been with enough snakes in my life to tell the difference between a real and fake smile
"Don't worry, I was just zoning out" he says but I don't believe him
"You said you wanted to talk about something the day I got suspended?" I ask him
"Oh yea, that note...who gave you it?"
"I don't know, I'm not sure if I want to know either, why?" I ask him again
"Do you know what's it about?" He asks completely ignoring my question
"Nope, not a clue" I say
His face drops to a disappointed gaze, why would he be disappointed? Does he know something I don't?
I suddenly realize that there are "Sucide isn't an option" posters all around
Hmm...those weren't there before
As I know Abhay is not going to answer my question, I ask Emy instead
"Hey, do you know what those posters are put up?"
She looks up from her phone and looks at the posters for a moment
"OMG, I totally forgot, today is the day that Matt Kale first entered school" She says
Seriously? They put up don't commit sucide posters even though their actions say the opposite?
I don't understand people, when your alive, they are mean to you, but when you die, they suddenly become nice?
I tell Emy that I have to go to the washroom. As I enter, I hear a girl's sobs from a stall.
"Hey, is someone in here?" I ask
"Lilliana?" The girl asks between sobs
"Charolette?" I say easily recognizing her
"Go away, what are you doing here?" She asks, her voice breaks a little
"Why are you crying?" I ask
"Why do you care?" She retorts
"I'm mean, not a monster" I say
She comes out of the stall, her mascara is ruined and her lipstick is barely visible
"Today was the day he first entered this school" She says
"Matt?" I ask
Why would she care about Matt?
"Yea, Matt. They tormented him everyday, they made him die" She sobs
"Nicholas?" I ask
"All of them, everyone bullied him and now they are pretending to care" Her voice breaks again
"I hate to be that person but didn't you bully him too?"
"Don't compare me to them! I had to do it or else I would end up dying too" She says
"Huh?"
"In this school there are two sides, if you don't play in their sick games according to their rules, you'll lose first. I was smart, I played their rules and I won" She says
"Was it really sucide or was it murder?" I ask
"Y...you got the note, didn't you?" She says
"You got it too?" I ask
"I didn't get it, stupid, I made it"
My eyes widen
"But what about the grey sweater?" I ask
"What grey sweater?"
"A saw someone with a grey sweater when I was suspended, they had the exact same notebook that the letter cane from" I say
"Oh, I told Finn to give you the note so it wouldn't be too obvious" She says it like it's the most basic thing in the world
"How do you know it wasn't sucide?" I ask
"None off it adds up, Matt Kale was happy before he died, he didn't want to kill himself. My father is a police officer, he investigated the case but apparently the COP conformed it as sucide. My father told me that he died by jumping off a cliff but there was fresh scratch marks on his arm, like someone was trying to kill him and accidentally left a mark on him" She says
If my eyes weren't widened enough before, they are basically about to fall out now
"Was the COP bribed?" I ask her
"No clue but probably" She says
But by who? I think to myself
"Wait, why do you know all this? I thought you bullied Matt" I ask her
"I told you I didn't have a choice, and unlike anyone else here, he brought real happiness into my life, he was real, he didn't give fake smiles or too many compliments, he once told me to take a risk in life because I only live once, of I know how having the right person in my life feels like, it's because of him" She says
"Did you love him?" I ask
"He once told me to move to the next chapter no matter how hard it is to say goodbye, I just didn't realize my favorite character won't be in the next chapter" She says while staring at the ground then suddenly gets up and leaves leaving me alone with my thoughts
So she was in love with Matt
I've always considered Charolette a mean bitch
I guess I didn't expect her to be so...her
But I guess that's the thing with people, they are never the way you want them to be
Sometimes it makes it harder to love them, and sometimes it makes it harder to hate them
Now I know one thing for sure
Matt Kale was murdered and someone has his blood on their hands, metaphorically and literally.
I'm going to figure out who
If I can't fix peoples life's I've ruined, I can solve people's death that others have caused
But have I digged two graves?
