She is like the sun.
I knew that even before I first met her. The people around me admire her. Whatever she does, their eyes twinkle in adoration.
The first time I saw her, it was a gloomy summer. Waves of unfamiliarity hit me as the seniors' soft whispers turned into loud gibberish in my mind that I almost went mad.
But she—despite being a newbie just like me—opted to occupy the front row seats and sit proudly.
It was a rare sight. How could someone be so confident?
At that moment, I became interested.
She laughed and grinned so carelessly, but the way she smiled at me that one July night was full of gentleness. I felt her warmth as she inched closer to me, the slow music softly encircling the dimmed party venue.
There were also occasions when she was unpredictable. Yet despite all the chaos, kindness has always been with her.
I saw her disheartened and weak many times, but she always recovered and reverted back to the ball of sunshine and mischievousness we all know.
That was when I realized she is indeed like the sun that gives warmth and positivity in the early morning, overwhelms in the afternoon, and brings assurance in the evening that a new beginning will soon appear and heal wounds as the sun rises the next day.
And, just like the sun, I realized that she is something I could only look at, no matter how much I desire to be with her.
