I want to thank everyone in my life for encouraging me to finally push this novel out of me. After a year and a half of writing and editing, this story that was begging to be told was finally put into writing. A story that is dear to my heart and will forever remain to be in my heart.

I would like to thank my father personally as well as my mother. You finding all of those crumpled up pieces of paper in the cardboard box all those years ago, when I was first discovering my love of writing, was what steered me in the direction to write. You told me that I had a real knack for it, and I cried for three days straight, so relieved, because my ex-boyfriend had told me that my writing was stupid and no one would ever read something so immature. Mind you, I was fourteen and of course I was immature, but I wanted to give up. You flashing those crumpled up pieces of paper in my face about some kind of fantasy story I gave up on, was the motivation I needed to pick up where I left off.

I would like to thank my mother for cracking open my first underdeveloped shitty book and still supporting me through praise and your unconditional love. I won't forget how you read so enthusiastically my first chapter, telling me that, "I knew you could write, but I didn't know you could actually write."

I want to thank my partner's parents, for teasing me about that same novel and how poorly edited it was! It helped me strap down and really focus on what I needed to change about my writing habits. It is a journey after all.  And even after all of that, my partner's mother still told me she enjoyed the book :)

This is a longshot, but I also want to thank Lauren Kate. Your books, and your letter that you wrote to me during my time of need was what made me want to acknowledge your part in the development of my book. You encouraged me to continue writing as I had to start from scratch with next to nothing as my computer fried on me from some jack ass spilling his coffee all over my laptop.

I have read and thoroughly enjoyed your novels and have vied to find my own voice and write something worthy that you would enjoy reading, but one can only dream.

I also want to thank other authors and literary agents that have inspired me through their words of wisdom, their writing and their "don't give up" kind of attitude. Such as Mandy Hubbard, Brenda Drake, Rachel Marks, Becca Fitzpatrick, Lucy Christopher, and Kiera Cass (no relation).

Lastly I'd like to thank a certain musician for inspiring the idea of The Borealis Girl, from a song I was obsessing over. "Slow dancing in a burning room."

You've reached the end of published parts.
