Kikyo was terrified with each step she took. There were bones everywhere and each time Kikyo stepped on one she stifled a scream.
"This beach is irritating," she groaned.
She then shot an irritated look at Shizuko who was floating, "Get your ass down here!" she yelled, trying to get Shizuko to the ground. They seemed to talk more, but their interactions were more hostile than welcoming.
"What do I look like stepping into bones, messing up my paws?" Shizuko asked.
"You suck," Kikyo replied.
Kikyo continued to step on bones, although she tried her best to ignore the crunches. She was more worried about her plan with the bake-kujira. For one she couldn't find a way to get out over the ocean, for two she couldn't figure out how to get it onto land, and three she knew Shizuko wouldn't help her. So how would she beat that thing?
"Inari made me her messenger right? Maybe I could use that to my advantage. Ocean is one of the types, so this could work."
The crescent moon under Kikyo's eye stung, "That woman knew what she was doing, didn't she?" she wondered. "Hey Shizuko mind going to full size if you can?"
"Why so?" she scoffed.
"It's a part of my plan of course. I need the failure of Inari to help me."
"I should burn you!" Shizuko yelled in embarrassment.
Kikyo laughed hysterically, "I'm only kidding, but now I know how to press your buttons. Listen I have a plan and you are a part of it. Besides ocean is one of the types right?" she asked.
Shizuko realized what Kikyo was thinking, and she instantly shot it down. She knew it wouldn't work, because of the rift she had caused. So why was Kikyo trying to use that as a plan?
"Stop shooting down my plans. You never know what'll happen if I try," Kikyo sighed. She wanted to try and use this power to her advantage. She saw Shizuko go into her larger form, "Now I have a question. Would you be able to call one of the ocean types?" she asked.
"Fine, but I really hope your plan fails." Shizuko sighed.
Shizuko's tails began moving in a manner that reminded Kikyo of antenna. Almost like she was sensing the environment around her. It was interesting to look at. Her tails locked into one direction: northwest. Shizuko nodded, "They're here," she said.
Kikyo looked around but she saw nothing that looked like a kitsune. Then her left eye began to ache, and she saw three of them dancing over the water. They had light blue fur and white tipped tails. The way they danced was mesmerizing to Kikyo, somewhat hypnotic.
"They're beautiful."
They made their way towards the shore, "Girl I'd back away from the shore if I were you," Shizuko noted.
"Huh?" Kikyo wondered. Then she saw why Shizuko said that. The kitsune pounced on her, "Mistress Inari!" their voices yelled.
She was confused why they called her Inari when she clearly wasn't. They seemed way too excited about meeting Kikyo because they licked her face. They also nibbled on her as well. It tickled her, and she didn't really want it to end either. But she had to focus, "Stop it please," she giggled.
The kitsune stopped, and they wagged their tails while looking at her with enthusiastic grins. Or whatever foxes do, "Sorry ma'am, it's just been so long since we've seen you. We couldn't control ourselves," they all said in unison.
Kikyo smiled, What did Inari mean? It seems like they're a lot nicer than I expected, she thought.
"I just want you all to know that I'm not Inari," Kikyo chuckled nervously.
