I was backstage with my mom, watching Li's new band perform on stage. I was excited for this new One Direction thing. I was happy for Li and this meant good things for our family.

As the song ended, the crowd cheered and the judges began to talk. After a while of eavesdropping, I heard the crowd aw. I went to the bathroom because I really had to go.

I did my thing, washed and dried my hands, and rushed out the bathroom to find Li. I looked around, but the hallway was empty. At least I thought it was empty. I bumped into a tall, curly haired boy.

"I'm so sorry." I looked up to him and saw tears falling from his eyes.

He walked right past me, not saying a word. I ran into Li afterwards. I saw the tear in his eyes threatening to come out, but he was trying to be strong.

"What's the matter Li?" I asked, the words rushed.

"We lost." The tear finally escaped and rolled down his cheek.

I wiped it away and caressed his head on my shoulder.

"It's going to be okay Li." I rubbed the back of his head gently and slowly.

"I know. I have to get my things." He mumbled, walking right beside me.

I watched as he went into his dressing room. I went back to find my mum. She was exactly where I left her. She was the only person, besides me, that wasn't crying right now.

"Come on. Let's go home." Her voice was a bit shaky.

What the heck happened while I was gone? My mom gave me the car keys and I went to go start the car. I went out through the back and I saw the same curly haired guy I bumped into before. He was walking with his mum and another girl who seemed to be around his age. That's when I realized that he was on the stage in Liam's band. I walked right past them and to my mum's car. I unlocked the door and got in, starting the car.

I waited for Li and mum to come out. I played the radio. After what felt like forever, they finally got into the car. They were silent. I started the car and drove out of the parking lot, following the instructions of the GPS.

Nothing interesting really happened during the car ride so I'll skip to when we got home.

I got out the car after Li. I handed my mum her keys and she opened the door. When we got in, I went straight to the kitchen. After all, I didn't eat all day long. When I went back into the living room with my granola bar, Li wasn't there. My mum was sitting on the couch, doing nothing. I took this time to ask her what I've been dying to ask her.

"Mum, what happened while I was in the bathroom?"

"Well, they didn't win. They got third place."

"So, that's why they were upset?" I asked, taking another bite of the bar.

"Yes."

I got up and went upstairs to Li's bedroom. I gently knocked on the door. No sound came from the other side of the door. I slowly opened the door and poked my head inside the dark room. He was asleep in the room, curled up in the blanket. I left him alone.

I walked across the hall to my bedroom. I opened the curtains to let some sunshine in. I sat on my bed, pulling my phone out from my back pocket. I started playing Flappy Bird, getting annoyed at the difficulty of the game.

"Yes!" I screamed as I beat my high score.

Liam came in, "Are you okay Em?"

"Ah. I see sleeping beauty has awaken from her slumber." I teased.
