Auriella Devereaux
"What do you mean you're getting married in two days?", Leo asked with a sigh as he propped his phone up to look at me better.
"Well, last time, you got mad that I didn't tell you at all, and now you're upset when I give you a heads-up," I smirked. Billy held back a laugh as he shared his banana with Theo.
"What's the rush, Auriella? You two just got back together. You two have been apart longer than you've been together," he said as Cleo sat beside him. I smiled at the sight of her growing baby bump.
"There's no rush. I've loved him since I was 18 years old. We have a son. We're building a life together. We never even got a divorce. We just want to have a real wedding. You know that thing you and Cleo have yet to plan," I said with a smirk. They looked at each other before he cleared his throat.
"We...Umm...We've been married for almost a year," he stuttered. My eyes immediately widened as I looked over at Billy.
"What? What do you mean? Why didn't you tell me? How could you get married wit—", I paused as I realized what I was about to say.
"I'm sorry. What was that?" Cleo said sarcastically.
"Did you two do this as payback or something?"
"Of course not. We just...We were stressed out. Between Miles, my art, and Leo's schedule
planning a wedding was impossible and seemed unnecessary. I was content going to the courthouse instead of having a big party. You know how much I hate being the center of attention,"
"Why did you guys hide it from me?"
"It was a spur-of-the-moment thing and I promise we were going to tell you, but then we got a call that you had a baby and it didn't feel like the right time. I've wanted to tell you so many times, Auri. Please don't be upset with us," Cleo pleaded.
"I can't really be upset with you. I got married without telling either of you,"
"You promise you're not mad?" Leo asked as he swooped Miles in his arms.
"Of course not. I'm happy for you two,"
"Auntie, where's Uncle Billy and Theo?" Billy smiled at being called Uncle Billy and came around the island to me.
"Hi, buddy," he said. Miles' eyes lit up as he lunged forward to get closer to the camera.
"Guess what I learned?!" he exclaimed with a bright smile.
"What?"
"Je m'appelle Miles," he said swiftly. Billy's eyes widened as he smiled proudly at the little boy.
"Très bien, Miles. Where'd you learn that?"
"My French teacher taught me,"
"Since when do you have a French teacher?" I asked.
"He asked for one. He said he wanted to speak French like Uncle Billy,"
"That's so sweet. You know, Miles, Uncle Billy, and I are getting married again and he will need a little helper on our wedding day," I said. His little face lit up as he sat up.
"Can I help, Uncle Billy?!"
"Of course, little man,"
Present
I stepped out of the closet and was met with delighted gasps as the ladies took in my dress.
"Auri, you look beautiful. It fits you like a glove. I can't believe you found it in such little time," Cleo said as she stood from the bed.
"It was in the first shop I went to. I hope Billy likes it," I said as I examined myself in the mirror.
"William is going to lose his mind. I'm going to go check on him and the guys," Emma said before heading out the door. Cleo glanced at me in the mirror before sighing.
"I feel like something's bothering you,"
"I'm fine," I said before sliding on the pale blue bracelet Billy bought me.
"Auri, I'm your best friend. I know when something's bothering you. If this is something that you no longer want to do, tell me and we'll get you and Theo out of here. We'll go upstairs and grab everything essential and take you wherever you want to go," she said. I smirked and turned to her.
"You'll be my getaway driver?"
"Of course. Should I text Leo?"
"Clee, I'm not running away from my own wedding. I'm just a little nervous. Billy and I are finally giving our marriage a chance. I don't want anything to ruin that. I never got to see my parents together. You and Leo are my only example of a loving relationship. I'm just worried about messing up,"
"Yeah, I wouldn't look at us as an example considering I was dating his best friend when I got pregnant with his baby," she said with a sad smile.
"Maybe it didn't start the way you would've wanted it to, but you can't deny how much you two love each other. My brother has never been happier in his life,"
"You're right, but you know how much William loves you. I mean, the man practically resigned from his life's work the day he found you here. He moved to Norway for you and Theo. What you two have is rare and real,"
"You're right. I don't know what I was thinking. I'm getting married!" I exclaimed with a happy sigh. I turned around as someone knocked on the door.
"It's us!" I heard my younger brother yell behind the door. Cleo opened it to reveal both of my brothers in matching suits.
"You two look so handsome,"
"Us? You make a beautiful bride, Auri. You ready for this? We can always grab Theo and go if you've changed your mind,"
"What is with you people?" I laughed as there was another knock at the door. Leo peeked outside before opening the door.
"Porter!" I picked up my dress before running to him. He laughed before pulling me into a tight hug.
"Look at you, Auri. You look gorgeous,"
"I can't believe you're here. Have you met Billy yet?"
"I have. I've also met your secret baby," he said with a smirk.
"He's not a secret baby. He was a surprise baby," I said, making him chuckle and shake his head.
"Auriella Bradford, wife and mother. Who would've thought?"
"We're a long way from Brownsville,"
"That we are. I think it's time, Ri. You ready?" Leo asked. I took a deep breath before nodding. Cleo patted Porter's shoulder before walking out with him. I could hear music playing in the studio. My brothers led me down to the entrance before they turned to me.
"Last chance. Are you sure?" Jamie asked.
"I've never been more sure of anything," I said before linking arms with both of them. The doors opened and I immediately was met with Billy's watery eyes. He shook his head before wiping away a tear. My brothers walked me down the aisle. Cleo beamed at me before whispering to Emma. Billy stepped forward and shook each of my brother's hands.
"I've raised her since she was a baby. If you ever feel that you no longer want to be a husband, just bring her back to me and I'll take care of her, okay? No questions asked," Leo said as he quickly swiped a tear that fell.
"She is our only sister. We still have a lot of lost time to make up for. Please take care of her," Jamison said.
"I promise that you have nothing to worry about. I will always love and care for her," he said before pulling them in for a hug. After a minute, my brothers pulled away and turned to me.
"Thank you," I said as I stepped forward. Billy smiled as he grabbed my hands.
"Shall we begin?" Elias asked. I nodded as I let out a breath.
