A/N:  I got this idea in the car today, and it was inspired by a tumblr post I saw awhile back (I will hunt that one down in the near future).  I wanna see how this one goes, please give comments (if anyone actually even sees my stories...) ^u^

Prologue:

Needless to say, I was worried sick.  He'd been gone for so long--and I really do mean so long.  It had been almost three days, and I'd called his phone over and over, just to hear the voicemail ask me to leave a message.  It wasn't like him to just walk out... and it wasn't like we fought, either.  We never fought, not really anyway.  By the third night, I called the police and reported him missing once I found his phone hidden under a couch cushion.  He wouldn't just leave without his phone, that wasn't like him, either.  I was frantic to find out where he was after that, and when each friend of his told me they hadn't seen him, I knew something had to be wrong.

I blinked again while sitting in the police station, people rushing around me trying to get leads. Time passed in a blur, everything moved so quickly.  They asked me questions for what felt like less than a minute before I found myself walking back to the flat alone in the dark.  Where are you, Dan?  I walked to the apartment building, then went in the flat and turned on a light, still hoping Dan would just be there.  Much to my dismay, the lights were still all off and the feeling was desolate.  They'll find him, I know they'll find him.

I walked into the bathroom, then washed my hands before I made a makeshift snack and headed off to bed.  I looked up in the mirror for a moment, and saw Dan in the reflection somewhere.  I snapped around quickly and looked behind me, then excitedly shouted "Dan!"  I was so happy, he was safe, he was just joking.  It was all just a joke, wasn't it?  There was no one there, though.  Nothing.  Oh god, I'm going crazy, aren't I?  I looked back into the mirror and behind me a couple times, feeling my heart race.  What was that...?

Dan was in the corner of my eye through the glass, and I turned off the water in the sink.  "Dan...?  Is that you?"  I looked closer, focusing, and he disappeared to the other corner.

"Phil, don't look at me."  I jumped at the sound of his quiet voice.  This wasn't sane of me, was it?

"Oh god I'm losing my mind..." I said quietly.  I must not have been sleeping well these last few days because of Dan's disappearance, I'm hallucinating or something.  I need to sleep, or eat, I guess.

"You aren't losing your mind, I promise.  Just listen to me, and don't look over here."  I nodded my head slowly, still staring in the mirror and avoiding what I thought was Dan.  "Good."  His voice paused for a second, like he was trying to figure out how to explain it.  "You know how you can't go through a mirror, Phil?  Something always stops you?"

"That's glass, Dan.  Glass stops someone from going through the mirror," I frowned.

"Actually, it's not the glass.  This sounds crazy, but just listen, please..."  I took a deep breath and nodded.  I still felt unsure if I was imagining this or not because I was so worried about him being gone.  "There's someone on the other side in another universe--one much worse than ours--who stops you.  They look like you, they mirror you, and when you touch a mirror, they keep you back.  They don't want you to be.. here."

"Alternate universe?  It sounds a bit too much like a sci-fi movie," I replied, still not believing it.

"I told you it sounds crazy, didn't I?  Now look at me.  I'm trapped here, does it seem sci-fi to you?"  I looked directly to the corner of my eye, finding Dan missing from the mirror again.  I quickly stared back at my reflection, praying I could see him again.  After a minute, I faintly saw him in the behind me in the mirror.  "I can't get out, Phil.  I'm--I'm stuck in the mirror."
