Chapter 10

After a day of being stuck in the girls dorm doing nothing but studying, I woke up Monday morning and realized that today is the first day in a month that Draco won't walk with me to class. God, I miss him already. Ugh, I don't want to get up and face the music. I was very eager to get out of my room though. Yesterday, one of the girls was nice enough to bring me some food from The Great Hall. My alarm clock was ringing quietly on my nightstand. All the girls in the Slytherin dorms made a rule that our alarm clocks need to be kept kind of quiet because we all wake up at different times. My hand quickly shut it off and I glanced at the time. Shoot! I'm going to be late. Freaking out, I jumped out of bed and slipped into my school uniform. I haven't been late since Draco helped me get to class on my first day. Come on, I need to show him that I'm perfectly fine without him and that's exactly what I'm going to do. The halls rushed past me as I ran all the way to Potions class. I ended up being five minutes late. Not bad I guess.

"Your boyfriend sure likes glaring at me," Mattheo said as I sat down at our table next to him.

My eyes darted to where Draco and Blaise were sitting. My breath left me in a rush. His hair was a little disheveled and I wanted nothing more than to run my fingers through it. As soon as Draco saw me he looked away. I can do this. I made the right decision. I sighed and looked back at Mattheo. "Oh...yeah...he's not my boyfriend anymore," I said for the first time out loud.

"Oh, I'm sorry to hear that," Mattheo said, not at all like he was sorry.

I laughed slightly. "You don't sound like you're sorry."

He chuckled a little and smirked. "How dare you assume that of me!"

"Mattheo, this is serious! You're my friend, so you're supposed to be there for me," Yes I totally just friend zoned him. The last thing I need right now is for Mattheo to think I'll date him now because I'm single. A thought crossed my mind about making Draco jealous, but what's the use for that? I'm the one that ended things. That would just be mean of me.

"Alright fine, how about you tell me everything," Mattheo said.

"Well, we probably should focus on our project right now," I said looking at all the other students working.

"Ok, how about lunch then?" he asked with an eyebrow raised.

It might be good to vent to someone, but is The Great Hall really the best place to get worked up? "No, it needs to be somewhere with not that many people," I said, biting my lip.

Mattheo raised his eyebrows and smirked. "Is that so?"

I shook my head at him and pushed him playfully. "Don't be ridiculous! You know what I mean. I don't want to get worked up and draw attention to myself," I finished.

His smirk faded. "Yeah, I know," he took a moment before speaking again. Then, his eyes lit up. "I know a place. Meet me at the big fountain outside at three."

"Good, I have a free period then," I said.

"I know, that's why I suggested it. We both have a free period," Mattheo said with a crooked grin.

"Ok, it's settled then!" I replied with a smile.

Once it was three, I rushed to the fountain outside. It was a little chilly, but luckily most of the snow from yesterday had melted because the sun was out. I spotted Mattheo sitting under a tree across from the fountain.

"I thought you said meet at the fountain?" I asked out of breath from running.

He laughed. "Yeah, but this is the actual spot I had in mind," Mattheo patted the ground next to him, indicating he wanted me to sit down next to him. "I'm ready to listen."

"Ok, well, I guess it all started a few days ago when Draco started acting really weird. I just assumed it was nothing, until two days ago when I asked him to go to Hogsmeade with me. He said he had detention so he couldn't go and it wasn't just that. He's usually always excited to me, but he just seemed really distant. I still wanted to go to Hogsmeade, so I went with Ginny and Luna. We had a great time and we were about to leave when I saw someone running the opposite direction as everyone was going. Curiosity got the best of me and I ran after the person. Once I realized it was Draco, I started to get mad because he lied to me,"

"Wait, he told you he had detention but he was at Hogsmeade?" Mattheo asked.

"Mhm," I replied then continued. "So, I caught up to him and confronted him. He wasn't saying anything, he just let me wait for him to speak. When he finally did say something, he lied again. Draco told me that detention ended early and I knew that he was lying because he didn't just say that right away. After that, I got more mad and hurt. I decided to give him one last chance to tell me the truth, but he didn't," I finished sadly.

"So, that was it?" Mattheo asked in surprise.

"Yeah, pretty much. Then, I told him I couldn't be in a relationship with someone who doesn't tell the truth and that's how it ended," I said feeling depressed about how it ended.

"I'm sorry Molly, that sounds rough," Mattheo said, actually sounding like he meant it.

I looked at him with a small smile. "Yeah, it's alright. I just need to keep telling myself I made the right decision."

"You did. Besides, he didn't deserve you," he said with the sweetest look in his eyes.

No no we're not doing this. I need to get out of here. Mattheo's my friend, I don't want him to get the wrong idea.

"This was nice, but I should get going for my next class. See you around Mattheo!" I smiled then ran back inside.
