Chapter 21

I didn't really talk to Vic much after we had that fight. I wish he wasn't so temperamental over the smallest things such as that. Didn't he understand that my mom refuses to believe me?

Summer and Tay were coming over today to settle things between us but I wasn't looking forward to seeing anyone. I like to be left alone when I'm upset otherwise I act like a whiny bitch and get myself into more trouble. I checked my phone and sure enough I had a load of texts and missed calls from people such as Vic, my mom, Tay, Summer, and random people from school. I haven't really checked my phone lately. I sighed and put it back down, not bothering to answer or read any of the messages I received.

I was listening to music to calm me down. I had it loud enough to not hear anything going on around me, which usually was a good thing. Today, though, I forgot I had people coming over. That means Vic was to answer the door. I hadn't thought this through, but I'm sure Tay will come to my room to get me. She always does when I'm upset.

I closed my eyes to really take in the lyrics of the song I was listening to. I wasn't sure what it was called but I heard it once and downloaded it because I didn't really care. It could be by a pop boy band and I wouldn't know. Actually, my ears aren't bleeding so I'm guessing it's not. I felt hands shake me awake, startling me. I sat up flailing around and ripped out my earbuds. I looked around the room to find a very amused looking Tay.

"Hey there." she said, giggling.

"You can give me a warning before breaking my state of concentration." I grumbled, throwing a pillow at her and completely missing. She laughed.

"How could I when you can't hear me either?" she asked. I shrugged.

"I guess you couldn't have." I said, swinging my legs over the side of the bed to stand up. She walked towards me to help me up but I dismissed it.

"Come down when you're ready. We need to talk about something important." she said, her giggles turning into serious looks as in saying this was not something she was joking about. She turned on her heel and walked out of my door, slightly closing it but not completely. I rolled my eyes and followed her.

I got downstairs and I wasn't surprised by what I saw. It was Summer and Vic sitting at the table together talking. Tay went over and took a seat next to Summer, which left me the seat between Vic and Tay. I'm sure they put me next to him on purpose. I sat down, not even glancing at Vic. Summer banged a spoon on a table twice, making me jump a little.

"Order in the house," she giggled, "Order. We have come here today to settle the case of Victor Fuentes and Kellin Quinn. Vic, please rise and make your fair point." she said, trying to sound like a judge. Tay leaned over and whispered "Let's hang the jury" which made me smile a little. I know how she hated things like this. Vic awkwardly stood up and looked at me.

"Kellin, you need to convince your mom that you're gay. I can't have this relationship if I know your side doesn't support. It makes me feel awkward in a way and I don't want her thinking that you and I are dating Summer and Tay. It doesn't feel natural for you, I'm sure. That is all." he said, sitting down. Summer hit the spoon against the table again and this time it made Tay jump. Tay sent her death glares and she slowly put it down.

"Thank you. Kellin, would you please rise and defend your point?" she asked. I rolled my eyes and stood up.

"Vic my mom is homophobic. I need you to know that-"

"So is mine!" he said.

"Vic it isn't your turn to speak." Summer said sternly. I smirked as Vic slowly closed his mouth and laid back in his chair.

"As I was saying. My mom is homophobic. That's how she got into drinking. Because I told her I was gay. She does everything she can to avoid the topic altogether. It won't click with her. I don't care what she thinks. I'm not actually with Summer so it doesn't phase me." I said, sitting down.

"Fine, I'll just move back and be with Jaime." he said, and that made my heart drop.

"That's not what I want at all." I said.

"I'm accepted there! Why wouldn't I want to go where I'm accepted?" he asked.

"Because I accept you! And so do Summer and Tay! And your brother!" I yelled.

"Oh yeah, Mike can come with me. You cant stop me. I don't care how many rights you think you have, white boy. I'm going home." he said, standing up and walking towards the basement. I stood up to follow but Tay's hand stopped me. The tears welled up and fell immediately.

"I thought you said you'd never leave me." I whispered between sobs. Tay put her hand on my back.

"And he never will." she said.

"He just did!" I yelled, more tears falling.

"Forever is a long time, Kellin. He can't stay away from you for that long. Forever means forever."
