We had just finished doing 13 candles. I was the star as usual. I was daddy's favorite. I know it wasn't fair to my sisters who worked so hard especially Stella. He blamed mom's death on her. Even though she had cancer anyway. To make it worse Stella couldn't sing or dance. Daddy never let her forget it. He taunted her endlessly about it. She never let it show. She was tough. I knew she cried about it. I was the only one who knew how much it hurt her. The worst part is she's starting to think daddy's right. That it is her fault for mom. I tell her she's wrong. Which she is. She was coming up to me now. "Hey." I said. "Do you think he noticed me today?" Stella rolled her eyes. "Eric again?" I couldn't help it. he was so different. and beautiful. And the way he acted was so humble and sweet how could you not love him. '"Come on" said Stella " we're gonna go work again tonight." Daddy didn't give us any money for our plays. Willow our oldest sister said as soon as we had enough money she would rent us an apartment. Away from dad. He was awful and we feared he would become abusive. He didn't used to be this way. He used to be happy and supportive and funny. But ever since mom died he only cared about money and work and us working for his money. Willow, Lucy, Bernedette and Gina were coming toward us. "Girls it's time to go let's make some money." We all left together. Even though Bernedette and Gina were to young to work. They couldn't stay home with daddy. We were only around him the minimum time. I worked at a clothing store for teenage girls. Willow was a waitress. Larer tonight we had a gig at a night club. Stella worked teaching little kids how to play hockey. Lucy worked at some history museum. Bernedette and Gina just hung out at a book store for a few hours. Cathy the old woman who owned the shop let them stay after hours and kept an eye on them.
