I woke up early that morning, I checked on Pete who slept in the extra bedroom across the hall from me. He was still sound asleep, I went downstairs and made bacon for Pete and I.He came down just as I finished the bacon and grabbed a piece, since it was still hot he dropped it on the floor. Cooper, our dog, raced to eat it the slice. "Last day of summer, what you wanna do today?" Pete asked, taking a sip of orange juice I poured him.
I thought, "maybe I could meet some of your friends, go see a movie all together or something." I said putting a bagel in the toaster. "I guess we could do that, Patrick has a girl friend that you would like, she's a nice girl, just don't get on her bad side."
"There's Andy and Joe, they both are busy all the time though." I Pete said taking a bite of his bacon. "I'm scared to start school tomorrow," I exclaimed. Pete let out a weak laugh, "it's not the bad, just don't get into the wrong crowd, and you'll be okay."
I deeply breathed in and out. We met Patrick and his girlfriend, Ellie, at the movie theater. We watched Me, Earl, and The Dying Girl. The guys found no interest in the movie. When the movie was over, we walked to Starbucks in the same shopping center.
Patrick ordered us all iced tea, Pete chugged his down. "So, Arden, you'll have to meet Anya, she's in a band that plays at the club for teenagers. We met her on the set." Ellie says as she takes a sip of her tea.
It started to rain when we walked back to the car. Pete gave me his hoodie so I wouldn't get cold. On the way back, American Idiot by Green Day came on the radio, Pete blasted it through out the car. We all sang along, somehow we all liked green day and other bands like that.
Pete had been living in my house for a week now, his mother is in rehab, her addiction got worse. We spend the rest of the day watched Netflix, it was almost 2 am when we got tired.
I fell asleep on Pete's lap, and woke up in his arms. I woke up and looked at the time, 7:00. "Shit!" I gasp, I wake up Pete. Why didn't my mom wake me? Had she not come home from her job last night?
We both grabbed donuts and ate them the way to school, Pete drove me. We both went to our different classes, we only had 5th period together. After a long day of getting to know our teachers, everyone went to the hang out down town.
The band featuring Anya was playing, she was pretty talented. She sang covers and some of the bands own songs. We met them back stage, they were really nice in person.
Pete and I didn't have much homework, so we finished it quickly.
"Arden, I have something to tell you." Pete says fumbling his hands like he's nervous. "You can tell me anything." I say turning my body to face him. "I- I like you. In fact, I think I love you, you probably don't even like me back, who would like a freak like me, but I need to get that off my chest."
My mouth dropped, I didn't know what to say, what to do. So i went in for a kiss. He kissed me back. When I pulled away, he smiled. "I'm guessing you like me back?" He says.
I nod biting my lip. "What does that make us then? A couple?" He puts his arms around me. "Mhm." I say putting my head on his shoulder. We watch Netflix once again, we have a Disney movie marathon.
I look at him, looking into his dark brown eyes. He leans in for a kiss, I kissed him back. "Wait," I say putting my hand on his chest. "My mom hasn't been home since last night." I say in a worried voice.
"Where would she be?" Pete says tempered. "I don't know." I reply. "I guess we can worry about her later." I kiss Pete again. Soon I fell asleep, same as last night. Fell asleep in his lap, woke up in his arms.
