Harsh's POV

"We are ghost hunters," he said.

I rolled my eyes. "Right!" I scoffed, my voice dripping with sarcasm.

But instead of laughing it off, Vansh shook his head. His expression was serious.

"I'm not joking," he said firmly. "My father, my brother, and I... we hunt ghosts. But my father decided to step away after an incident. Something personal. Because of that, he’s not involved anymore. And without him, my brother and I couldn't continue either. We needed a medium."

I stared at him, waiting for the punchline. But he wasn’t smiling.

"Look..." He ran a hand through his hair, seeming hesitant. "I can see ghosts, but I can’t always communicate with them. That’s where the medium comes in. We need a virgin girl who... well... who can talk to spirits and also—" he swallowed hard "—allow them to possess her."

I blinked at him. Once. Twice.

Was this guy for real?

"What the hell, Vansh?!" I shouted, stepping back.

This guy is insane. Absolutely crazy.

"I'm warning you, Vansh. Just take me out of here. Right now!" I yelled, my patience wearing thin.

Vansh's POV

Harshitha was panicking, and honestly, I didn’t blame her. This had to sound terrifying to her—being told out of nowhere that she was meant to talk to ghosts? Anyone would freak out.

I racked my brain, trying to figure out how to convince her.

Then, the robotic voice spoke again. "We need to tell her something convincing. Something that proves we are telling the truth." It paused for a moment before continuing.

"A few years ago, she was in an accident. She was in a coma for a week. Life after that wasn’t easy… she started hearing voices. She followed them, believing they meant something, but in the end… it only led to heartbreak."

I froze. My mind struggled to process what I had just heard.

How does this machine know all this?

I swallowed hard and decided to repeat what it had just told me.

"A few years ago… you were in an accident," I said slowly, watching her reaction. "You were in a coma for a while. And after that… you started hearing voices. You followed them, thinking they were leading you somewhere. But in the end… they only led to heartbreak." My voice dropped to a near whisper.

Harshitha’s eyes widened in shock.

She took a shaky step back, her breath hitching. "How… how do you know that?" she whispered, her voice breaking.

A single tear slipped down her cheek.

I took a cautious step toward her. Seeing her reaction, I realized this was too personal… too painful. Maybe I had crossed a line.

"Harshitha… I’m not trying to bring up your past or hurt you," I said gently. "I just need you to believe me. The robotic voice told me about your past—it wants you to trust us."

She looked away, her eyes scanning the room as if searching for an escape. For a long moment, she was silent, deep in thought.

Then, finally, she spoke. "Why can't I see or hear that machine?"

I let out a breath, relieved. She wasn’t rejecting everything outright—she was trying to understand.

Before I could answer, the robotic voice spoke again.

"She can neither see nor hear me because she is not with the person she is meant to be with. Her energy is in a weakened state. She will only be able to see or hear ghosts when she is with Aksh Singhania."

I froze.

Aksh.

Of course, it had to be him.

I repeated the exact words the robotic voice had told me, watching her closely for a reaction.

"What? Aksh? Your brother? That egoistic CEO?" Harshitha scoffed. "There’s no way I’m being around him—let alone standing beside him. He’s so damn irritating."

I sighed. "I know… but that’s what the voice is saying."

Before she could argue further, the robotic voice spoke again, its tone neutral yet firm.

"There are only two possibilities—either she is not a virgin, or her energy is in a weakened state."

I hesitated for a moment before relaying the message. "Um… it says that either you're not a virgin, or your energy is weak." My voice was barely above a whisper.

Harshitha’s eyes widened in frustration. "I am a virgin, okay?! But why the hell do I need to be with Aksh just because my energy is weak?" she demanded.

The robotic voice responded without hesitation. "Because he possesses deep, strengthened energy within him."

"So, he possesses great strength" I said, relaying the robotic voice’s words to her.

Harshitha gave me a deadpan look. "Strength? Please. The only thing he possesses is an oversized ego. That man is full of himself." She scoffed, crossing her arms.

I couldn’t help but chuckle. "You’ve only met him twice, and you already hate him?"

She shot me a glare, but I continued, "Maybe… but trust me, when it comes to ghost hunting, he’s really skilled."

She was about to argue when the robotic voice interrupted.

"You both need to leave now."

The moment those words were spoken, a staircase suddenly appeared, leading back up.

Harshitha’s eyes widened in shock. "Did you see that?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

I nodded. "Yeah. Come on, we need to go. I’ll explain everything later."

Without wasting another second, we hurried up the stairs.
