AUTHOR'S NOTE

Would you believe me if I told you I was going to give them a happy ending?

No? Well I'll explain anyway. In the original plan, something was going to happen to Taz (whether a crash or some other sort of accident that puts him in hospital) and Pierre was always going to stir shit up. But they'd get over it, because they love each other, and they'd move forward. They'd visit the christening of Taz's nephew (Catalina's son - as mentioned in Chapt 5 I think) in Argentina. Taz would win the championship against Max, and he'd pull a Nico Rosberg and announce his retirement the same day. All because of Oscar, who day by day convinced him there was more to life than racing - the thing he was engineered to do.

So he'd retire. And Oscar would race with Lando for McLaren. And the 2024 season would happen, and McLaren would win the championship. Meanwhile, Taz watched on, devoting himself to Oscar and mentoring Franco.

That was the original plan. But like I said before, I'm a little shit. I gave you TWO happy endings with White Flag and About You. You deserved this.

Just kidding! Because I love you, and your comments and your votes, I'll be publishing an alternate ending in the next few days, along the lines of the original plan. I don't know when that will be out, I have work tomorrow and some more essays to write next week. But I'll try and get it done because I wasn't lying when I said I was sobbing writing that last chapter. Oscar and Taz do deserve their good ending. Just know it won't be canon to this story ;)

As for the future, I have no clue what to do! When finishing White Flag, I had immediate plans for About You, and the same happened when I concluded About You. In fact, I remember planning this story and procrastinating finishing the last few chapters of About You (which was why I never wrote an epilogue in the end, because I was too eager to get started with Somebody Else!!). But right now, I have no plans. I get ideas but I'm unsure if I have the energy to turn them into full fics (just wait for me to publish a new one in a few weeks haha). If you have any preferences, let me know. It's not like I have an obsession with any of the F1 drivers in particular. Not at all. It's not like I've made three fics about a particular F1 driver. Anyway. I'm still considering making a discord, so also let me know if you'd be interested in that.

Once again, thank you, thank you, thank you. For the death threats, the complaints, the love, the votes, the comments. It's been a year since I first wrote an OP fic, and the readers have honestly been the best part. Whether silent or not, your support means the world to me.

You're welcome for breaking your hearts with this one. Don't worry, it's only seventeen days until the car launch in London, so look forward to that, too!! Can't wait for races to start up again (even though I work Sundays).
