I SAT IN Jobe's car, smiling as I looked at the bouquet of flowers he had gotten me. They were beautiful. I'd never felt so loved before. He'd surprised me when we were closing—Ethan and Layla were in on it, but clearly, they didn't do a great job keeping the surprise.

Layla had tried to keep me distracted, but honestly, she was just being annoying.

Now, Ethan and Layla had already left, leaving Jobe and me alone.

I felt Jobe's gaze burning into the side of my face. I quickly side-eyed him but didn't say anything.

"The flowers more important than me?" he asked, turning the car on.

I turned to him, fake gasping, "No!"

"That sounds sarcastic," he replied, raising an eyebrow.

I reached out, gently caressing his cheek as I gave him a soft smile. His face instantly turned red, and I couldn't help but find it adorable.

"Nothing is more important than you," I said, my voice sincere.

Jobe cleared his throat, shifting in his seat as he tried—and failed—to hide his smile.

"Yeah, okay," he muttered, gripping the steering wheel a little tighter.

I laughed, leaning back into my seat. "You get shy so easily."

"I do not," he shot back, but the blush creeping up his neck said otherwise.

I smirked, looking down at the flowers again. "You know, this was really sweet. I wasn't expecting it."

Jobe tapped his fingers against the wheel. "Well... I wanted to do something nice for you. You deserve it."

His words made my heart swell. I reached over and intertwined our fingers, giving his hand a small squeeze.

"Thank you, Jobe."

He glanced at me quickly before turning his eyes back to the road. "You don't have to thank me. Now put your seatbelt on."

I laughed, doing as he said. Being with him felt effortless. And for the first time in a long time, I felt completely happy.

"How are you not tired?" I asked, watching him closely.

He shrugged, a small smirk playing on his lips. "I don't know, I guess you give me energy."

I playfully rolled my eyes. "You're corny."

Jobe chuckled, stealing a quick glance at me before focusing back on the road. "And yet, here you are, completely obsessed with me."

I scoffed, crossing my arms. "Obsessed? That's a strong word."
