Bad Luck

Chapter 2:

As in any sappy highschool book, there's your insecure bullies, praying on the weak. The bell had rang and Lei and I had walked out of the class together, talking about new kid when some teenagers whizzed by us.

" What the hell?" Lei asked and the hallways began to echo with commotion. We gave each other a glanced and sped walked to the large crowd of kids. Lei pushed her way to the front, dragging me behind her and laughed at what she saw.

The new kid was in the middle of the circle of people along with Kyle Austin, a guy on the ever so cliche, football team. Everyone in this school knew Kyle was completely homophobic, even Kyle. Constant rumors are passed that Kyle hates gays so much he said that he was gonna kill every faggot in this fucking school before the breathed next to him. What an asshole. He constantly throws his heterosexual masculinity around like it was some trophy. One day, Lei and I were joking around walking the field and watched Kyle smack and squeeze onto one of the other guy's ass on the football team. Ever since, Lei and I ( mostly Lei) were out to take him out of the closet and show him once and for all that he wasn't some lady killer.

"Kick his ass, Kyle!" Someone shouted from the crowd.

"He's a pussy!" Another yelled.

" Why are they already targeting him? He just got here like 4 seconds ago!" I shouted over the cheers to Lei, but she was too distracted to care. She raved along with them.

"Thought you could get away from me, huh?" Kyle jeered, punching his fist into his palm and the new kid held himself, terrified.

In this moment, a Good Samaritan is suppose to run out and save the poor kid from the ass kicking he's about to get. Protect him, like in the movies.

That didn't happen.

At least, I wasn't the one who did it.

The new kid coward in fear begging for his life, as Kyle raised his fist, high in the air. High enough for my math teacher, Mr. Fowl to catch it, before anything happened.

" Well, well, well, Mr. Austin," He said, rubbing his hairy chin. You could almost feel the crowd groan as the another fight was broken up by a teacher and all the action left the air.

"I'm sure, Mrs. Fedra would love to hear about another one of your antics."

Kyle's eyebrows were knitted together in a frown as he was taken tot he front office with Mr. Fowl and the crowd dispersed. Before I realized it, Lei had disappeared and ended up next to the new kid, chatting him up.

" So, what'd you do to piss off the infamous Kyle Austin?" I heard her ask as I approached. His voice was high, not like he hadn't hit puberty, but higher than most of the boys here.

"He's my ex boyfriend," He mumbled, softly and Lei's mouth dropped open, acting surprised.

"Kyle Austin is.... gay!?!"

He chuckled to himself, brushing his hair out his eyes.

" I guess you already knew that huh? We dated for 10 months until I had to break up with him for "artistic differences"."

" What's that suppose to mean?" Lei asked.

The huge PA sounded off requesting Chester Philman to the front office please and the new kid laughed to himself again.

"Well, that's my cue, nice meeting you guys."

" Wait, why did you guys break up?"

" See you later!" He shouted before jogging off towards the office. The warning bell rang out and Lei squealed in excitement before we started to run to her next class that was in the direction of mine.

" I fucking knew Kyle was gay, man, this is huge!" Lei cheered like she had unlocked the secrets of the world.

" Lei, it's not that big of a deal," I panted trying to keep up with her. I stopped at the door of my upcoming class and watched her continue her trek to hers.

" It is! I can see the headlines now! Gay guys walk freely all thanks to Lei Jackson!" She announced. I shook my head, rolling my eyes before walking into the class just as the bell rang.

Lei repeatedly texted me throughout the lecture until I finally had to ask to go to the bathroom to text her back. As I walked through the hallways, I scrolled through the messages.

Lei Lei Bear: Kyyyylleeee isssss gggaayyyy

Lei Lei Bear: Kyyylleee issss gayyyy

Lei Lei Bear: We have to get more information from that new kid! He's literally the key to everything!

Lei Lei Bear: This will be cover news!

Lei Lei Bear: If you see him around the halls be sure to make friends with him, we need everything we can get!

Me: Lei! You need to chill! You can't just out this kid without permission, what if doesn't want to come out? We need to have all our mess together before taking this to the public.

Lei Lei Bear: Stop being so stuck up! This is raw! And we're not outing Danny we're just milking him for some info, bro. And text Alexa about it, my teachers eyeing me.

Me: Whatever

By the time I finished texting her I realized I just made it to the bathroom. I pulled out my phone jotting a text to Alexa about the breaking news.

Me: Fact: Kyle is gay.

It took her a couple minutes to respond and by that time, I was already headed back to class. I walked slower.

Tyrone ( Yes, that's her contact in my phone. What? I'm Twan in hers!) : What

Me: Kyle is gay. He's the new kids ex boyfriend.

Tyrone: Bullshit

Me: Lei and I talked to him today before he went to Mrs. Fedra's

Tyrone: Dude he's in my class

Me: Be friend him! Lei wants info.

Tyrone: Aight

I shoved my phone back in my pocket before slipping into my seat. My mind reprocessed the words again.

Kyle Austin is gay.

And my best friends and I are the only ones who knew.
