The night was suffocatingly silent, save for the distant hum of passing cars. Jihoon sat stiffly in his living room, his fingers digging into the fabric of his sweatpants as he glanced toward the guest room. The air in the apartment was thick with tension, with fear. He could hear Jisoo’s shallow breaths from inside, could feel the anxiety pulsing off Soonyoung, who sat rigid beside him.
They were all waiting, knowing well where Seokmin mus be headed after the call they got from Jeonghan.
And then it came.
A violent bang shattered the silence.
Jihoon shot up from the couch as the pounding on his door grew more frenzied, rattling the very frame.
"JIHOON!" Seokmin’s voice boomed, thick with venom and alcohol. "I KNOW HE’S IN THERE! OPEN THE DAMN DOOR!"
Jisoo let out a strangled whimper from the guest room. Jihoon’s heart clenched, but he forced himself to stay composed.
Soonyoung was already reaching for his phone, his hands shaking as he fumbled to dial the police at one signal by Jihoon. "He’s here," he whispered, his face pale.
Jihoon held out a hand, his voice a low warning. “Stay back.”
“DON’T IGNORE ME!” Seokmin’s fists struck the door with the force of a sledgehammer. The wood creaked under the relentless assault. "You think you can keep him from me? You think I don’t know he’s here? He is mine. MINE.. JUST MINE."
Jisoo flinched at every hit, curling into himself on the bed. His entire body trembled, his hands clutching at his stomach protectively. "Jihoon," he whimpered, his voice barely a breath.
Jihoon swallowed the fear crawling up his throat and stepped closer to the door. His hands were steady now, his fear morphing into something cold, something sharp. “He’s not here, Seokmin. Go home before you do something you’ll regret.”
"Regret?" Seokmin let out a harsh, humorless laugh. "You think I regret loving him?" His voice was low, a dangerous tremor beneath the words. Then, a bitter laugh escaped, sharp and unhinged. "You think I regret
fighting for what's mine?"His eyes darkened, burning with a
possessive fury. "No, Jihoon. The only
one who'll regret this is you." He took a slow step forward, voice dipping into something venomous, something almost manic. "Because when I find him with you -and I will find him-- I'II make sure you all beg for mercy. But I won't give it."He exhaled sharply, eyes gleaming with something deadly. "I'll tear apart
everything you love, your husband, your child, your perfect little family, the way you tried to tear him from me. And when I'm done?" A smirk curled at his lips, ice-cold and merciless. "You'll wish you were never my brother."The pounding stopped.
Jihoon didn’t move. Soonyoung, who had been whispering their address to the dispatcher, lifted his eyes toward him, looking utterly lost. "What do we do?" he whispered, torn between fear and the urge to protect.
Before Jihoon could answer, BANG.
The kick to the door nearly sent Jihoon stumbling backward. Jisoo let out a quiet gasp from the other room.
"DO YOU HEAR ME?!" Seokmin’s voice was pure rage now. "I’LL BURN THIS PLACE TO THE GROUND IF I HAVE TO!"
Jihoon’s hand hovered over the lock. His mind raced. Would it be safer to confront him, or should they wait for the police?
"DO YOU HEAR ME?!" Seokmin's voice
was raw, shaking with fury and
desperation. "I'LL BURN THIS PLACE TO THE GROUND IF THAT'S WHAT IT
TAKES TO GET HIM BACK!" His chest
heaved as he took a step back, eyes blazing with an unhinged obsession."YOU THINK YOU CAN KEEP HIM
FROM ME?!" His fists trembled, barely
restraining the storm raging within him. "HE IS MINE! MINE! AND I WILL RIP THIS WORLD APART BEFORE I LET YOU FEED NONSENSE AGAINST ME IN HIS HEAD!"The walls seemed to shake with his fury his breath ragged as he glared at the closed door who dared to stand in his way, "BRING HIM TO ME NOW-OR I SWEAR, I WILL DRAG THIS WHOLE
DAMN PLACE INTO HELL WITH ME!"Behind him, Soonyoung was frozen, his gaze darting between the door and Jihoon. Jisoo sat in the guest room, trembling, his hands gripping the fabric of his oversized hoodie as though it would somehow ground him. His chest rose and fell in rapid, shallow breaths, his eyes glazed with sheer terror.
"Jihoon," Jisoo whispered, his voice barely audible. "He’s not going to stop."
Jihoon clenched his jaw, his muscles coiled like a spring. "Let him try. Don'tlet him know Jisoo is here." Jihoon took a staggered breath.
The distant wail of sirens finally broke through the chaos.
Seokmin let out a guttural growl, his fists tightening at his sides. "This isn’t over, Jihoon!" he spat before staggering away into the night.
Jihoon waited until the pounding footsteps disappeared before exhaling. His hands were trembling now, the adrenaline fading into exhaustion.
The police arrived moments later, their presence feeling like a weak shield against the storm that was Seokmin. Jihoon and Soonyoung explained everything, but Jihoon knew—they weren’t safe.
Inside the guest room, Jisoo sat hunched over, his hands cradling his stomach as though trying to shield the life growing inside him from the terror outside.
Jihoon knelt beside him, his voice gentle but firm. “You’re safe now.”
Jisoo shook his head violently, tears finally spilling over. "I have to leave," he whispered, his voice trembling. "I can’t keep putting you all in danger."
Soonyoung crouched in front of him, his eyes soft but desperate. "You’re not going anywhere alone, Jisoo."
Jihoon placed a hand on his shoulder, his grip firm, unwavering. “You’re not facing this monster alone.”
But as the night stretched on and the echoes of Seokmin’s threats lingered in their minds, they all knew—
This was far from over.
