To say today wasn't exciting would be a lie. After we all got our packets we were sent off to are class we had that hour. Of course it's not like we all paid attention. No we were to busy discussing the trip. "I wonder where he got the idea from" Chloe mumbles from beside me as I take down the chemistry notes on the board. I shrug as I glance at her from the corner of my eye "not sure but it was one hell of a good idea on his part." she chuckles and silently agrees with me as the teacher shoots us a dirty look. We continue are silent talk for another twenty minutes before the sound of the bell moves us out of are seats. "I'll meet you guys down at the lunch room, I just have to go and switch out my books at my locker." I gather up my belongings and exit the classroom, waving goodbye to Chloe.
My locker has been a nuisance in my high school career. If being halfway across the school isn't a fair enough reason, then take having the bad boy Chance King as your locker buddy as well. I wish I could say the reason I know Chance so well is because of school, but that would be a lie. Chance was my best friend up until the beginning of junior year. Then, he changed he started to push me away and became more and more of a player. He was not only my best friend but my next door neighbor sense him and his family moved in at the beginning of the first grade. Shoving my belongings into the bottom of my locker, I slam it shut and turn, but not before jumping out of my skin, standing before me leaning up against his locker like a god, was Chance.
"Long time no see Gay Bear" he murmurs my old nickname he gave me, like it hasn't been two years sense the last time we've spoken. "You haven't changed a bit have you?." he says looking me up and down. I glare at him, "actually, I have changed. I've changed enough to know that I shouldn't trust and let someone in so easily." something flashes threw his eyes before I can decipher what it is he covers it up with a cold stare. "Well well little miss naive isn't so naive now is she?." he chuckles coldly. "I don't have time for you anymore Chance, that's why it's been two years. You aren't on my list of worries anymore and you never will be. Your scum now, just like-." he cuts me off by slamming up against the locker. "Don't even finish that sentence. I am nothing like him." he lets me go and regret flashes over his face, he shakes his head and glares at me before strutting away.
Walking into the lunch room, I'm instantly bombarded with questions from my worried friends. "Gray, you're like 30 minutes late. Are you okay?.Did something happen?" Chloe moves over giving me room to sit, and I do, but not before letting out a big long sigh. "Chance was at his locker and he talked to me." my entire table goes quiet and just looks at me. "It wasn't a big deal or anything, we had a few not so nice words and then he left." I shrugged down playing the entire situation, but none of them were buying it. It was Jackson who pointed it out "nice story if you weren't Grayson Matthews. But you are so what really happened.?" they all look at me expectantly, so all I said was "I brought up Corey Andrews." They all went quiet dropping the subject instantly, knowing how I felt about it. I look at them all and I do the only thing I can think of, I change the subject. "So how are we all going to room on the trip..?"

Usually when I get home from school, my dad isn't home, but as soon as I walked threw the door he was right there in front of me. "Hey princess, how was your first day of senior year?" he says wiping his hands off on the kitchen towel he brought out with him. "It was...exciting to say the least" I state, setting my bag down before walking with him to the kitchen. "How was desk duty?." I continue to say, grabbing an apple out of the fruit basket that sat on top of the counter. He raises his eyebrow and smiles at me, "It was surprisingly okay. I didn't have to fill out a lot of paper work. In fact I don't think I did anything other than hang around the shooting range." He smirks and continues to make whatever it was before I got home. Speaking of which, "Dad? Why are you home so early anyways?.." he clears his throat and doesn't look at me. "Oh yes, I must have forgotten to tell you, we have dinner guests tonight." the way he says this has my stomach doing somersaults and my mind reeling. "Who is it?" he continues to not look at me "honey why don't you go and change into something a little nicer?.." he trails off and I speak up once again. "Dad. I'm serious. Who the hell is coming over?" he stops cooking and sighs looking at me.."The King's honey.."
To say I was pissed was an understatement, after the bomb shell my dad dropped I stormed off to my room isolating myself from the rest of the house. I was currently sitting on my bed, phone tucked under my ear, ranting to Chloe. "Chloe, honestly you know my father, he wouldn't just forget a dinner plan like this. No he planned it all out. He is definitely up to something and I don't want to be the one to find out. It will only end bad." I sigh in exasperation as Chloe replies, "Listen to your self Gray, you sound paranoid and the only person who can cause that is Chance. I'd watch your back tonight because being under the same roof as the devil himself can't be any good. Anyways, Jackson's here and I have to go but tell me how dinner goes tonight okay babe?." with that she hangs up leaving my mind reeling with questions. What the hell was my dad planning?..
30 minutes later I look at myself in the mirror, giving my hair a finishing touch before looking at my outfit. I was currently in a cream colored knitted sweater, and a pair of leggings. My long blonde hair was swept up in a waterfall braid to keep it out of my face, and I had on a pair of moccasin fringed ankle boots to complete the classy but comfortable look. Before I can talk myself out of this and just bail, my dad yells for me "honey! Come down the King's are here and they're dying to see you!" I can hear the smirk evident in his voice as I take one last look at myself, before walking out, shutting the door behind me. Coming down the stairs I notice that Chance isn't with his parents, but before I can think about it any further Mrs. King pulls my into a hug. "Oh Grayson, you have grown up so much sense the last time I saw you!" she gushes and lets me go, but I'm pulled into another hug by Mr. King "You gotta watch out for the boys on this one Rob, she's quite the catch" he lets me go and my dad smiles agreeing. "It's great so see you Mr. and Mrs. King." I mumble blushing. "Oh honey you know you're like a daughter to us." and she's right, they were a second family to me once upon a time. I even use to call them mom and dad. That's how close me and their son were. "Sorry Lucy" I chuckle "it''s just been so long." and it has. Two years to be exact. I can see Lucy go to reply but before she does, my dad cuts her off. "That's either the food burning or lunch from today." I groan in embarrassment as my dad and Greg laugh. "come on honey before we have nothing left to eat." and with that I follow them all into the kitchen, with a warm feeling in my gut. Maybe tonight won't be so bad after all...
I was wrong. After we all sat down with are plates of food the conversation instantly started flowing. Topics varied from school, to jobs, to even last night football game. I was completely calm and at ease. Until Chance walked in looking flustered. I kept calm. I was getting to the point that I was okay after awhile. Until are parents spoke up. "Why don't you kids go up to Grayson's room as us adults catch up?." I instantly choke on my water, setting my cup down abruptly. I couldn't say no so I just answered with a nod and got up silently, walking to my room. When I got up to the top of the stairs I stop and whirl around to face Chance. "Leave. Now." I spit out with such much venom in my voice I even cringe. "Now why would I do that sweetheart when the fun has just started?.he gives me his trade mark smirk before pushing past me, going straight to my room. "You can't just do that, this is my house you know and I want you to leave." he cross my arms and glare at him, which in return earned me a pat on my head and an amused chuckle "always so feisty huh Gray? Nothing's changed has it." he cocks his head to the side and looks at me. Not in a cocky 'I'm checking you out way'. No this was how he use to look at me. Which shocked me. It shocked me so much I take a step back. "Don't" I whisper. "Don't look at me like that.." I bite my lip, trying to hide how much that look effected me. "You lost all rights two years ago." I state, gaining my composer back.
"I'm sorry." he says looking at me. He looked so vulnerable at that moment, and I wish, I just wished I could comfort him like I use to. "I'm sorry about that night two years ago. I'm sorry for breaking all our promises. I never deserved someone like you Grayson. I'm bad. Everything I touch gets ruined." he covers up any feelings he has and leaves his face impassive. Before I have time to even react to what he's just said, he's gone. Just like two years ago, I thought to myself.
