Y/n's POV:

It was hard to see Aki in this state, but I had no other choice. The fire was still flaring madly around the forest, but it felt like I was fully focused on Aki. My eyes teary eyes stare down at his severed head. Candle was next to me, rubbing his hand on my back trying to comfort me. "I...I need to leave." I muttered not wanting to take any more missions for that pink-haired lady. My sweaty hands quivered from all the tension. Soon, firefighters came rushing in to stop the huge fire. I stood up taking a deep breath. "C'mon, Candle. I said quietly, before I put Aki's head on the floor, I pressed a small kiss on his forehead before walking off with Candle. I wanted to confront Makima that I wanted to quit this stupid job; I couldn't handle seeing the death of others I loved.

~Timeskip~

I told Denji and Power about what happened, they were shocked that Aki died; let alone by the hands of me. I knew that I would need to leave them as well. I felt down from the memories, so I decided to get my wallet and go buy some snacks. "I'm going to buy food, do you guys want anything?" I asked putting my wallet in my purse. Power grinned raising her hand and exclaimed out.

"I want a ball of rice stuffed with meat!" I nodded having a small smile, she seemed to lift my mood a little with her energetic behavior, and I glanced at Denji who was sitting next to her having a small frown from the news about Aki. 

MJ: I think Y/n is traumatized for life-

"I want ice cream." Denji looked up at me, and I nodded slightly before heading out. Now, Denji and Power have been friendly towards MJ, no longer treating her like an intruder in the apartment. As I strolled, the streets remained calm, with only the sound of my footsteps on the concrete and a few passing cars. Painful memories replayed in my mind like a rollercoaster ride. Suddenly, I heard a tapping sound nearby, startling me, and I glanced back, only to find nothing there. After taking a deep breath and shaking my head, I continued walking into a store. I filled my basket with items and purchased everything. A cold breeze sent shivers down my spine, causing me to instinctively wrap my arms together for warmth while my teeth chattered from the chill. I then spotted a lonely-looking bench near some vending machines. I decided to have a seat to cool my head off. I looked down, wondering what would happen next...I took out the soda I had In my plastic bag taking a sip of it, staring at the sky and the stars gave me old memories of when me and my grandpa would try to count all the stars in the sky; it gave me a warm feeling inside not realizing myself smiling. I continued looking up at the stars when I heard the familiar footsteps earlier, I looked back and saw none other than Makima...I froze in my seat but clenched my fists.

"Y/n? What are you doing here?" Makima asked curiously, tilting her head to the side. "It's quite cold, y'know. Why not bring a jacket?" She added. I sighed looking down.

"Uhm... I'm clearing my mind after what happened... And I didn't realize it was cold," I said, running a hand through my hair. Makima hummed as she walked closer to me; I knew for a fact that she was trying to keep up the act of being innocent and not having done anything wrong. She then sat next to me on the bench and handed me her coat to keep me warm. I forced a smile, pretending to fall for her trick. "Thanks..." I replied, wrapping myself in the coat.

"You ended Aki's life, haven't you?" Makima said after some silence. I nodded slowly, Makima smirked for a second before putting a sad look on her face. "I'm terribly sorry," Makima whispered as if trying to comfort me. I stayed silent, though holding the insults in my head. "However, you've killed the Gun Devil...I can give you any wish you want." Makima said taking my chin so I could look right into her eyes. "You may tell me, now. What do you wish for?"

"I...I wish..." I murmured, but something was wrong with my head...It was as if something was forcing me to say something different. My eyes widened wondering why it was feeling strange...I heard it sounds like..."Be your dog." I clenched my fists. "I..." I stammered...This must be one of Makima's powers! Cold sweat began dripping down my face. I gritted my teeth and resisted. I shook my head quickly and shouted. "I WISH TO QUIT MY JOB AND BE WITH MY GRANDPARENTS!" Makima raised her eyebrows at the sudden shout. The voices soon faded away. My breath was shakey from the adrenaline. Makima soon nodded, but her smile faltered.

Makima's POV:

I gazed at Y/n, feeling slightly frustrated by my lack of control over her. However, I shook my head and smiled once more. "Alright then... Good luck with your grandparents," I said, nodding. Y/n looked back at me, a smile on her face, appearing relieved.

"Thank you..." Y/n smiled before she ran off still holding the bag of groceries. As soon as she left, I stopped smiling. I scoffed annoyed, glaring at the way where Y/n left...I was surprised she escaped it.

"She managed to get out of my control...? Interesting." I whispered stroking my chin, wondering how she did it. "Mizu can escape my control because she can rewind time...but this girl is not a fiend. She doesn't have any powers...how did she...Wait a minute." I thought hardly then something got in my head. I remembered there was this small humanoid creature...

FLASHBACK:

"So the Legendary Candle Devil is on your side?" I looked at Y/n grabbing her chin gently yet firmly. 

I remembered when I grabbed Y/n's chin. The small creature that's named...MJ turned into a 5'3 human...

MJ suddenly grabbed my wrist tightly and got it out of Y/n's chin.

"Don't even think about it Makima...Candle and Mary with me." MJ uttered.

PRESENT:

"Her grip was strong...despite being a small size." I hummed. Before I knew it, I felt a presence behind me.

"You knew it?" MJ murmured... "Of course, I'd help Y/n. You groomer." MJ whispered. My eyes widen when I look back. MJ was too fast and slammed me on the ground injuring me. I coughed blood glaring up at her. "I told you that Candle and Y/n are with me!" That is what MJ said before suddenly disappearing again...

"Her scent seems like a normal human being...But her powers are questionable..." I thought clenching my fists. "That kid is keeping me away from Y/n...Damnit!" I growled to myself before getting up weakly.
