"I never thought you'd be here tonight."
"I never thought that I would ever meet you."
"But you did."
"Yes. I have. Just like that dream."
"Just like your dream."My name is Danielle, and unlike most girls, I'm not concerned about my body weight. In fact, I'm only concerned about the condition of my skin. (Because of that one time I was dumb enough to put hair removal cream on my face.)
Anyways, back to talking about narcissistic self, I am known to flirt.
A lot. As a kid in elementary and middle school, I was the least hopeless romantic as I had plenty of guys who had a mutual liking with me but never had the nerve to ask me out. Boys. They were a big part of my life and I was known to dabble in the art of poker. Poker as in playing my cards right and getting all of them heart-broken, one way or another. But as I entered high school, there he stood, one boy to rule them all. A boy with looks, the charm, the smarts and the heart that caught the eye of every girl in the room, including mine. Elias Jasper Peridot. Just like his name, his eyes were the envy of every drag queen, a little darker than the green of his last name but one of which sparkled just as bright.
'He's adorable, and it would be quite an achievement to make him mine as well...' I thought.
That's when I made the mistake of talking to him.
I walked over to Elias, dressed in a simple black top and denim shorts, with the eyes of every other girl burning holes into my skull.
Hey! What's up?
Oh, hi! I'm fine. Elias. You?
He replied with a smile, reaching out to shake my hand.
Danielle. Do you have a g-
That's when she stepped in.
Amanda. The awkward, sweet girl you'd think every boy would want, except that she's genuinely awkward and downright AWFUL to be around.
Amanda streaked her sneakers across the floor and grinned at me.
Hi! Yes, he does have a girlfriend. And that's me!
'Argh. What a stuck-up b-'
Amanda, I told you already. I like you, but you know what my mom said.
Right... Sorry, Elias.Amanda flipped her auburn-brown hair at me and walked off with Elias' hand in hers, smirking as she tried to make up for her sudden intrusion to him.
This is only the first day. And I already don't like her. Great.
Just. Great."Oh my god, are you serious? She just flicked her hair in your face and walked off?"
"Yeah, Candice, she did. She's such a insecure little snitch." I complained, feeling such a drag as my best friend went on to talk about how insecurity brings out the b-word in girls.
Candice started off with blonde hair and a indigo highlight on the right of her bleached mess the first time I met her (which was two years ago) and as a hair enthusiast, she now has turquoise highlights and a brown mane. Which is absolutely hideous in the morning.
"Candice, he already stated that he doesn't want to have a relationship with her and she's still being a clingy dingus about it. I mean, c'mon. Who doesn't want to set their dick free and high like the American flag?"
"Heck, girl, I would. Look at all the hot babes, man. But then there's you. Just you."
"Damn you, Candice," I laughed, having her burn me felt like a real tease. "You're such a slut. Gosh."
"What can I say? I like my men and women the way I like America. Proud and free. With the hobby of eating fast food 24/7, of course."
"Sure, you do. Why haven't you dated me yet then?"
"Well, you're a cocktease. But... You're my bestie. Hence, I'm in the Friendzone."
"You're gonna stay there forever, because you know I'm not into girls that way."
"Yeah, yeah. So you wanna chase Elias or what?"
"Heck yes. He's a total babe."
"Alright. I'll make it real."
"Thanks, slut."
"Anytime, hoe."
