Chapter 2: SAND

Naomi's POV

I woke up through the sound of the engine being turned off. I thought we were there already so I opened my eyes, yawning while taking a look around. Turns out, we were at the Gas Station.

"What are we doing here?" I asked sleepily.

Cory looked at me with a puzzled look, "Um, dunno? Maybe adopt a dog?" He said sarcastically.

I scoffed and saw him hop off the car to fill the tank. A few minutes or so, he turn the engine on again and started driving away.

Chloe was still in a deep slumber while mom was looking by the window. She was like in her own little world.

I took my phone out of my pocket to check what time it is, "11:22". Its been only six hours since we left, I groaned in frustration. 'Ugh, 6 more hours' I thought.

A drive from Chicago, Illinois to New York takes almost 12-14 hrs. It depends on the weather, or the traffics. I was starting to get a little hungry though.

I poked mom on the shoulder causing her to turn her attention to me. "Yes darling?" She asked, smiling at me.

"I'm hungry mom" I pouted. Mom started looking for something inside her bag, hopefully food.

She gave me a bag of Cheetos, and said "Here you go hon". I thanked her while talking the bag from her hand.

"Uh, mom.. Do we have drinks too?" She took something from the bag again and gave me a bottle of water. I thanked her again and sat comfortably on the back.

I opened the chips and started eating like a pig. I haven't noticed how hungry I was. Ha!

"Give. me. some. Cheeetooows" Chloe said making me look at her. She still had her eyes closed, which made me laugh a little. She finally opened her eyes while laughing with me. Suddenly she stopped laughing, making me stop as well. "I'm serious. Give me some" She said with a straight face.

I laughed so hard that it made mom and Cory look at me. Chloe laughed too, just not as hard as though. My tummy started hurting for laughing too much, making me stop slowly.

Me and Chloe shared the Cheetos while chit-chatting. When we finished the pack, I gave the trash to mom - putting it on a plastic.

I suddenly felt my phone vibrate, I fished it off my pocket to look at who it is.

'Brittany Sumers'

"Hey! What's up?" I said through the phone.

"Nothing, I just wanted to check if you're okay" She said sincerely, making me smile.

"I'm okay babe. Are you?" Okay, maybe I haven't told you about Brittany.

Brittany and I have a 'Friends with Benefits' relationship, or something like that. We're not dating but we're more than friends. She's pretty cool too. She has long - Black straight hair and brown eyes. She's pretty hot if you ask me.

"I'm great, thanks." I can hear her smiling through the phone. Okay, I know that sounds weird - but I really do. I was about to say something when she said, "Bye babe. I gotta go, loveyou"

"Take care, loveyoutoo" I said before hanging up. Chloe was looking at me with her left eyebrow up.

"What?" I questioned her with no expression.

"I take it. That was Brittany" She had a smirk playing across her lips.

"Yup. She was just checking on me"

"And...?" She pushed the topic more. I just looked at her with an unimpressed look. "Come on, tell me"

"What am I gonna tell you?" I looked at her.

"Anything? Like, I dont no - Are you guys dating now?" She tried to pull an innocent-like expression.

"No. We are not dating. We just have se-" I saw my mom looking my way, her eyes wide. "-and - sand.. Sand, yeah" Mom stopped looking at me, and but into the window instead.

Chloe was trying her hardest not to laugh but she failed. So she started to laugh without a sound. She kept mouthing 'sand?!' again and again.

I just ignored her. Then I felt my phone vibrate. It was a text..... From Chloe.

I looked at her with a confused look while she gestured for me to read it.

So I did, 'SAND?! OHGOD. YOU GUYS HAVE SAND? HAHAHAHAHAHA xx'

I looked up to her and gave her my "What the fuck-face" while she started laughing again.

This is going to be a long ride..
