C.1 - Beginning | Part 2

"That's the last one from the car." Tobi smiles at me. I flash a smile back and placed the last box into my unfurnished living room. I turn around and see Tobi leaning against the front door and smiling. His happiness never fails to bring a smile to my mouth. I have only known him for about 1 hour, but he never seems to stop smiling.

"Thanks so much for the help" I say walking up to him. I pick up the house keys and my car keys from the top of a box and head out the door. I wait in the hallway for Tobi to leave, he does and I lock the door. I stuff my keys into my pockets and look at Tobi who is facing me.

"I need to go back, there are still more boxes and Ben will want to see me one last time" I said, getting ready to say goodbye. I flashed a smile and walked past Tobi and walk towards the stairs that lead to the reception.

"Amelia wait!" Tobi said on the brink of a shout. I turn around and see him jog towards me.

"Can't let you handle those boxes by yourself can I?" Tobi said with a cheek. I laugh at his words and start to walk down the stairs with Tobi by my side. We walked down one level before talking again.

"So Ben? He is your little brother?" Tobi asked, making conversation. I look over at him and replied.

"Yeah. He is 3, 4 in October. My mum had me and my older brother really young so that is why there is a massive age difference" I explained as we walked down the second set of stairs and into the abandoned reception. There wasn't even anyone at the desk. Strange.

"I can't wait to meet him" Tobi said in excitement. My guess is that he is really good with kids. Just by his go getter attitude and smile that is always planted on his face. We leave the block of appartments and head to my car that was in the carpark. It was unusually quite and no cars were parked when there were loads 10 minutes ago.

"This is freaky" I admitted, Tobi nodded as a reply and got into my unlocked car. I started the car up and headed for our 2 hour journey to my family house.

"You didn't have to come you know that" I said, keeping my eyes on the road. It was getting late, getting quite dark beside the strange amount of police cars zooming past us on the motorway.

"I know, I just wanted to... Get away for a bit." Tobi smiled, looking around in my car. He looked quite bored so I suggested if he wanted the radio on and he said yes. I turn the dial on my dash board and music came out of my speakers. I left my aux cord at my new flat, because I am just so smart like that.

I was just turning off the motor way when I see something strange. It is a pulled over car with its lights blinking on and off. There seems to be no one in the car but outside... I take my eyes of the road and slow down to a stop next to the crashed car. I look about, seeing if anyone was there. The doors where still wide open and the engine was still running, they must of left in a hurry.

"You see anyone?" I ask Tobi looking back over my shoulder and see Tobi staring out the same window. He stretched his neck up and looked around before answering.

"Nope, I don't see anyone" Tobi replied, I look at him, confusion on my face. Why would no one be there? I thought. I turned back around and looked out at the mysterious car. I heard some noise coming from our blind spot of the car, it sounded like someone was in pain. I squinted my eyes as the noise got louder and louder, still not being able to see it. It sounded like groaning.

"Hello?" I shout out to the person. They come out from our blind spot. My face went into shock. It wasn't a person. It was a walker. It clawed its nails into the gravel and dragged its fresh turned body along the floor straight for us. Its mouth opened and closed and loose skin hung off its chin. The sudden aroma of rotting bodies came into my car through my open window. I covered my mouth and nose with my sleeve and step hard on the pedal, sending us whirling down the road and away from the walker.
