~ Lukas's POV ~

I trudged into the bathroom, traces of the dream I just had still fresh in my mind. It wasn't anything special, just the usual nightmare.
I searched through the drawer beneath the counter for my toothpaste, finding it after a little. I really need to clean that drawer out...

After brushing my teeth, fixing my hair, and using the toilet, I trudged downstairs. I could hear the tv going, signaling that someone was awake.
I peeked into the living room, spotting some white hair on the other side of the couch. My brother.
I yawned, walking into the kitchen. "Morning, Emil." I called, hearing a distracted "Morning" from the occupied teen.
I looked through a cabinet for a bowl, making myself a quick cereal breakfast. I sat down at the table, digging into the food.
I heard a yawn, similar to mine, and looked up. There stood my mom, a tall, platinum-blonde 30 year old.
She walked over to the coffee maker, starting it up.
She looked over at me, smiling. "Good morning, Luk." "Good morning, mom." I have her a nod. I'd prefer not to smile. She and Emil were the only ones on this planet that have ever seen me smile.
I haven't smiled in years.

The morning went by fast. Emil was trying out for the local soccer team, and mom had work.
I, on the other hand, had the day to myself. I heard the neighbors were going to stop by and meet us later tonight with a nice dinner, which we gladly accepted.
If you haven't guessed by what I said, we're new here.
We moved from Oslo, Norway to here, Copenhagen, Denmark. It was nice, and as far as I'm concerned, has friendly people. It was safe, too.
My mom's work gave her a promotion, and from what she's told me, it didn't help much. But, it's better than what she used to have, and pays a little more, so we're not complaining. It required us to move here, though.
We start school next week, and I couldn't be more nervous.

But, I'm spending my free time wisely before Emil and I go:
Watching Netflix.
I settled down on the comfortable couch, wrapped in blankets with pillows scattered around. I pressed play, and the movie Pet Cemetery began. I plopped a few pieces of popcorn into my mouth, eyes glued to the screen as I began my scary movie marathon.

When my mom and brother came home, I had just finished Saw 3.
But sadly, I didn't have time to watch Saw 4. The neighbors were coming.
So, I went to my room, dressed in casual yet stylish attire, and waited by the door to greet them.
There was a knock, and I opened the door to see two men and a girl, looking to be around my age.
I invited them in, trying to look as welcoming and happy as possible.
They were the Hedevary family, a gay couple and their adopted daughter, Elizabeta.

After dinner, me, Elizabeta, and Emil bonded. It turns out she, too, was slightly gay. Bisexual, to be exact, and was absolutely delighted to hear that I was gay, and Emil was bisexual as well.
After a few hours of the three grownups and children getting to know each other, the family left for the night.
What a nice welcome.

In the morning, the same thing repeated itself.
Emil, having made the tryouts, went to go meet the other 19 players who qualified, and mom to work.
I, of course, began Saw 4.

It was nice, living in Copenhagen, so far. But, things change, and sometimes, take a turn for the worst.

Let's hope that's not the case this time.

I felt this was a little rushed, so I'll make chapter two soon to make up for it!
