"I have a question, so I guess I'm going first," I say.
"Go for it," Isaac says.
"Do you like me?" I instantly regret asking that because it's a dumbass question. I throw my hands over my face because I can't even look at him out of embarrassment.
"Really? That's the question? I thought it was obvious but I guess not. I do like you, I like you a lot. A lot, a lot actually," he replies as he peels my hands off of my face.
"When did you start liking me?"
"Well, I saw you and your sister walk into school for the first time. It was your third day of school and I was with my friend, Nick. He was talking about how hot the new girls were and pointed you two out to me. He was going on about Allison and not you. I asked him about you and he said 'forget it she's a freshman dude. The other one is a sophomore like us. I'd go for her...' But I couldn't stop staring at you. You were wearing ripped black skinny jeans, and a skeleton Audrey Hepburn muscle top with high heeled combat boots and the crystal and moon choker. I have no idea how I remember that but I do. You looked so scared yet intimidating and beautiful. Every time I saw you, I just stopped and looked at you. Like I was in some sort of trance. Then this year I actually started to talk to you even though we were fighting for a while. I couldn't help but notice how stubborn and strong you were. Then we became friends and you did that stuff to try and annoy me. I always pretended I was but I never was. I loved all that stuff, it was cute and that's when I knew I liked you, officially liked you."
"Oh wow. I didn't even know you noticed me last year."
"Are you kidding me? You're the only girl I ever noticed once I saw you. I used to like Lydia but as soon as I saw you everything shifted. Now I'm going to ask you the same two questions. Do you like me?"
"Of course I do."
"Ok, when did you start liking me?"
"That's a tough one. Well I thought you were really hot when I saw you practicing lacrosse. You were wearing what you normally wear for practice, except on your helmet you had a green sticker on it. I asked Allison who you were and she's like 'Isaac Lahey. He's in my grade, but I never talk to him.' Fast forward to a couple of days before you were bitten. I saw you walking down the hallway and I was at my locker. I could have sworn we made eye contact and you gave me a smile but I didn't think you did so I looked away and grabbed stuff from my locker. Then you were bitten and we were fighting against each other for a while. Then we became friends. I had the realization that I liked you the third time you came over to my apartment over the summer. I had hit you on the head with a pillow and you picked me up and threw me over your shoulder. Then you spun me around and I smacked your butt. It is a dumb moment when I realized but you made me laugh so hard my stomach hurt and I was crying."
"Ha, if I knew you liked me then I would have kissed you like I planned to," Isaac said with a smile.
"You were going to kiss me that night?"
"Hell yeah. I was like just go for it. But then I backed out when I realized you fell asleep on my shoulder. So I kissed the top of your head instead."
"Oh, I'm sorry for falling asleep."
"It was cute. I liked it."
"Isaac?"
"Yes, babe?"
"Wait- did you just call me babe?"
"Oh shit, sorry it slipped. I didn't mean to say that out loud."
"Do you call me that a lot in your head?"
"All the time, Macy. All the fucking time."
"Oh. Back to my original question. What is this?"
