Gerard's class stood on the courts, waiting for the coach to arrive and send the 'less able' group to the athletics track. Gerard dreamed of Frank over in geometry; doodling in his comfy, not at all sweaty and unflattering clothes, not having to do any physical activity at all.
Mr. Hurley marched onto the court with a grin and pointed to the gates leading to the track.
"Right everyone, I'd like you all to try hard extra today, because its a warm day, and I know you don't want to!" He slapped Gerard on the back with his impeccably strong arm and motioned for him to follow the others jogging towards the track. As the students regrouped, Mr. Hurley ordered one lap. Gerard trailed behind the group, suffering in the sweltering heat, feeling unhealthier than ever. The class stretched and Mr. Hurley assigned different activities.Gerard was assigned discus, and sat in the shade, slotting his ring on and off his finger as he waited for his turn. James spotted him from the centre of the track; where the varsity team practiced. He waiting until moments before Gerard threw his discus to bound over and knock into him.
"That's for getting in my way," James chuckled, as Gerard desperately tried to find the ring that had fallen off, however, his bully spotted it glinting in the sunlight, and snatched it off the astroturf.
"What's this little piece of sissy shit, well you don't need that-" James caught Gerard's bloodthirsty eyes and dropped the ring in shock. Gerard caught it before it reached the ground, and sprinted off the track faster than Mr. Hurley had ever seen him perform. The insults Mr. Hurley threw at James distorted and faded in Gerard's ears as he darted inside the main school building and through the maths block. He spotted a teacher stalking the end of the corridor and leaped into the bathroom beside Frank's classroom. He stumbled to the end stall and slammed the door closed behind him. He fell onto the toilet seat breathlessly and held the ring tight in his right palm before him. Gerard heard the bathroom door gently open, followed by a hum distinctly identifiable as that of Mr. Hurley.
"Gerard, what's going on between you and James?" Mr. Hurley leaned against the stall door as he entered counseling mode.
"Oh I uh- he uh, we just fell out over something silly, he doesn't like me, but Mr. Hurley, I think I need to stay here a minute, my stomach hurts and I uh- I think I'm about to have dia-"
"Okay, okay Gerard just make sure to check-in by the end of class?" Gerard listened to the sound of Mr. Hurley's hurried footsteps, followed by the click of the bathroom door closing. Gerard frustratedly kicked the stall door open and leaned onto the sink opposite.
He looked up at his sweaty reflection in the mirror for a split second before hearing approaching footsteps and throwing himself back into the stall. He recognized the stepping pattern as Frank's and decided to hide out in the stall in order to frighten him as a joke. He watched his friend's feet settle in front of a sink, where he was presumably looking at his own reflection. He began to hum, then softly sing to himself, shocking Gerard and causing him to drop the ring, which rolled out from underneath the stall. Frank spotted it, but before he could even utter his best friend's name, a panicked shriek emitted from the locked stall, followed by the sound of Gerard's body dropping to the floor. Frank threw himself onto the damp linoleum floor in an attempt to slide under the stall door to his aid, however, Gerard leaped back up and broke the lock with a swift kick, the metal door just missing Frank and shattering the sink opposite. Gerard screamed in fear as he felt his face contort with dark power, feeling sharp incisors forcing their way through his soft gums. He keeled over in pain as his eyes glowed a fiery gold, causing hot tears to stream down his face. Frank edged back into the corner of the bathroom, terrified beyond comprehension, but making sure to pay close attention to Gerard's erratic movements.Gerard sensed movement and turned his neck with a chilling crack. Frank was paralyzed with terror, sweating profusely and panting excessively as he made eye contact with the horrific sight crouched before him. Gerard released a growl-like hiss that frightened both himself and Frank to the state of hysterics. Frank's eyes darted across the floor in search of the ring while Gerard's deranged and contorted face drew closer, his eyes, the only access the to human nature of Gerard, sadly desperate and pleading, while his mouth was clamped open in a deranged grin, exposing his fangs, soaked in his own blood. Frank spotted the key to safety, ducked, and snatched it from between the fragments of the shattered sink a split second before Gerard could pounce. He slammed the precious ring against his throat and gripped it almost to the point of suffocating Gerard until his eyes faded back to his natural hazel.
Gerard suddenly heaved forward and spluttered. When he looked back up with a look of earnest trust, he instantly knew he had returned to his normal self. His agonized eyes were filled with sadness, and a flood of tears poured from them before Frank had the chance to speak. Frank held his best friend's head to his chest as they both lay, covered in blood, shaking and sobbing amongst the debris. Gerard fell in and out of consciousness, during which Frank quickly slid the ring back onto his friend's hand.
When Gerard awoke a few moments later, the shock starting to wear off, he began to mumble incomprehensibly. Frank shushed him, despite shaking with fresh terror himself until his best friend's whimpers died down. He wiped the glistening blood from his watch face and pulled himself away from Gerard when he realised the bell was set to ring in the next few minutes.
Frank hauled Gerard, who was considerably broader than him, to his feet with a groan, and rested him on the toilet nearest to the door, where he slouched and closed his eyes once more. Frank tore a wad of paper towels from the dispenser beside the door, and wiped the majority of blood from the floor, despite his own bruised and bloodied hands. He removed Gerard's trainers, followed by his own converses, tied the laces and hung all four shoes around his neck. Checking his watch once more and consequently quickening his pace, Frank took Gerard by the waist and pulled him up as gently as possible, ordering him to wrap his arm around his shoulders. The boys quietly, albeit clumsily exited the bathroom, and shuffled down the corridor, their damp socks sliding on the shiny floor. Frank pushed Gerard's mouth closed to cease his pained moans and pushed him into the locker room. The pair stumbled down the stairs at the back of the room and flopped out of the fire exit and into the cafeteria loading bay, having struggled greatly to push the fire door open.
They miraculously survived the journey to the nearest bus stop, where they alighted the first bus home, on which a crowd of elderly citizens glared in judgment, as they sat in a daze, attempting to process what they had both just experienced.

PLEASE TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK IN THE COMMENTS? Thanks!AN/ 5 years later - writing is hard lmao but I had fun with this - I realise when I write, I mimic the expressions of the emotions I'm attempting to convey, so you can only imagine what I must have looked like writing this chapter lol

Bloodsuckin'
FanfictionGerard tells Frank that he's a vampire, which complicates things. Set in a vaguely 90s-00s kind of thing - think temporally ambiguous Netflix original series.
