She woke up to smoke.  She shot out of bed coughing like crazy.  Her house was on fire.
She ran looking for the door to escape.  She ran outside and saw that her whole village was on fire.  Invaders had come setting the whole village on fire.
"Run my child! Run!" her father shouted while fighting.  "Run to the forest!" her mother yelled.  "And don't look back!"
With tears in her eyes she obeyed her parents and ran.  She ran as fast as she could to forest near the village.  She ran deeper into the forest until she slipped on some ice and fell.
She got up and leaned up against a tree and cried into her knees.  The snow gently falling on her red ombré hair. She could hear screams and yells coming from the village.
And as hours passed everything went quiet. The girl sat there crying and said, "Why me? Why did this happen to me?" She cried more until she felt something nudging her arm. She looked and saw a baby dragon. She gasped and scooted away from it. The girl looked around frantically for its parents, but they were nowhere insight. They were both alone. The girl looked into its beautiful bright green eyes. She hesitantly put her hand out and the baby dragon pressed its nose to her hand.
The girl had her first friend, a dragon friend. The baby dragon crawled into her lap and purred like it was a cat. The girl hugged the baby dragon gently and whispered, "Let's be great friends." The baby dragon licked her face as if it understood her. She chuckled a little forgetting her sadness for a moment.
She picked up the baby dragon in her arms and started to walk up a hill that over looked the village.
The village was burnt to the ground and smoke rose from it. No one was left alive.
Tears slid down her cheeks and the baby dragon licked them away. "Whoever did this will pay," she said with her voice cracking.
In that moment the girl promised to avenge her village and her parents. She and her little dragon friend would have their revenge. They will grow stronger together and their friendship would be the strongest thing anyone has ever seen...
