"Wake up, Jack! C'mon, wake up!" Grace whispered hurriedly as she shook me very hard until I opened my eyes.

"What's goin' on?" I asked, sitting up on the bed and scratching my head.

"The men. Elysia's men. They found this cabin. They noticed that someone was already here and searched inside out. Aaron, Sam, you and I were hidden underneath the beds, but you were so sound asleep that you probably don't remember a thing. Thankfully, the men didn't take any supplies, but they will come again. We need to get outta here now, before they come back," she explained, before standing up and walking to the door. She placed her hand on the handle and turned around to look at me. She said "Get prepared. We don't know when we'll get shelter again," and she left the room, though she looked like she wanted to say something else.

I stared at the quilt of the bed as I tried to break down the information. How long had it been since they left? Oh great, more fucking questions to add to the list. I pushed off the quilt, stood up, put on my hoodie that I threw on the floor the night before and left the bedroom.

As I entered the main room, I saw Sam sitting on one of the chairs, tending the fire. He glanced up and grinned at me. Aaron and Grace were filling a rug sack with necessities, discussing and planning our next move as they did. I decided to sit with Sam and -hopefully- get some questions answered.

"Hey Sam," I greeted.

"Top of the mornin' to ya, laddie! Did ye have a nice wee sleep?" Sam said with a thick Irish accent as I sat in the chair next to him. I smirked and rolled my eyes.

"Ah yes. Going for the stereotypical Irish accent, are ya now?" I asked as Sam tried to cover up his laughter with his hand over his mouth.

"Sorry, it's my first time trying to do it, and I thought, since you went through a lot yesterday, that I'd try to make you smile," said Sam between laughs.

"Well, thank you. I needed it."

"Anytime."

"And to answer your question, yes I did have 'a nice wee sleep'," I said, putting on a thicker Irish accent near the end of the sentence. The both of us bursted into a fit of laughter, tears filled our eyes.

"What the hell are you two doing?" asked Aaron a few minutes later. He and Grace had finished packing and had now came over beside us. Sam and I tried to calm ourselves, but we just started off again. Man, did my sides hurt. I wiped away the fallen tears with my hoodie sleeve and let out a deep breath.

"Whew! Sorry about that. So what's the plan?" I asked.

"There's a town called Celestia not too far from here. If we follow the map Grace found, then we should be there before dusk, if we don't run into trouble along the way," explained Aaron. I looked at Sam and he sighed.

"I guess I should get into your mind, Jack. You won't have to worry about me getting hurt or something like that," he stated as he glared at Grace. She put her hands up as if she was surrendering. I stood up and pulled Sam gently with me to try to break the growing tension between him and Grace.

"So, you ready?" I asked.

"Yeah, yeah. Keep in mind, Jack, that it doesn't get as bad as it did the first time I went into your mind," Sam answered as he changed into the dark blue smoke and went into my open mouth. And he was right. It wasn't as bad, but it still left a disgusting aftertaste.

Suddenly, every colour had turned to a slightly grey, except me. I think Grace said "Alright, let's go," but everything went into slow-motion, until everything stopped. It was like time just froze. I couldn't hear a thing.

"Aaron? Grace? What's happening?" I asked, waving my hands in front of their faces. But they didn't even flinch.

Sam? What the fuck is happening?! I thought as I rushed over to the mirror and looked at my reflection. My left eye was now discoloured, just like everything else.

Shit, Sam must be affected by whatever the hell is happening.

"Jack? Jack. Jack?" a voice begged. It seemed to be a young girl's voice, and it sounded distance.

"W-who are you? I don't want your Girl Scout cookies!"

"Follow my voice, Jack. Then all your questions shall be answered."

I hesitated before deciding to leave Grace and Aaron (I mean c'mon, it's not like they're going anywhere) and follow the mysterious voice. And as I walked beneath the tall pine trees that early dawn, I thought to myself:

Oh jeez, even more weird shit!
