The Stupid Things I Did For Nothing

Chapter 2- Boys Will ALWAYS Be Boys!

School flew by with a ton of lectures which equaled a TON of homework.  My a.p. classes added to the pile of stuff that needed to be done by tomorrow morning, no exceptions.  By the time I was back were I stated the day, my locker, I already doubled the pile that I had been lugging around in the morning.

"Hey do you want to hang out after school, maybe have some ice cream to cool us down from the 100% temp?  Then we could go to my place and paint our nails and talk about BOYS!" Kassy said eagerly.  I'm sure the vesion of us sitting on her bed with nail polish in our hands already ran through her head.  She would have baby pink and I would have a forest green or navy blue, but both would have sparkles.  We would talk about the boys who we thought were cute, the ones we liked the best, and what the important boys did that made our hearts skip a beat.

"I'm sorry, I can't I am going over to Sam's house to study." I responded sincerely.

"Ooo, text me the dets!" she said mischievously with a huge grin plastered upon her face.

"Not like that, we have a big test in math class, that we just happen to share!" I answered her as if it was no big deal, but it was a BIG deal.

Kassy turned to face me and moved her eyebrows up and down when she say who was heading our way.  She closed her locker door and headed off to where she was going to get a ride home, but not before saying "TTUL."

"Hay we should probably get going, are you ready?" asked Sam, who was puzzled by my appearance.  I was holding two books in between my legs, and trying to stuff another into my already cramped book bag.

"Ya... I'm almost... Ready!" I said happily once I was able to fit the books in my bag (I was glad that it hasn't ripped after all these years).  So we started our way to the packing lot, the cool summer breeze whipping my dark curly hair in all directions.  We talked as we walked through the beautiful wild flowers, that swayed in the wind.

By the time we got to the little park by our houses we were almost sweating.  The sun had been beating down on us the whole time!  Luckily there was an Ice cream truck driving by.  And everyoune knows that ice cream is the best way to cool down on a hot day.  Sam got a grape popsicle, and I got an ice cream cone.

"Hay, do you want to switch?" he asked, like the tradition we have been doing since we were little.  I agreed, like I always do, and gave him my ice cream cone in exchange for his popsicle.

"Yum!" I said as I took a big bit of freezing cold, grape flavored ice.

"Hear you go." I said with my mouth full, while I handed him back his popsicle.

"Hay you ate like half of it!" he said after he gave me back my chocolate ice cream.  "That means that I get to have more of yours to make it fair."

"No way! Stop acting like a little boy. I decided to take a big bit of your popsicle, and you chose to have a small bit of my ice cream.  It is fair."  I said smiling.  He smiled mischievously, and tried to grab the cone out of my hand, but I was already running down the street.   He finally caught up with me in front of his house and ate the hole cone in one bite!  I didn't mind that  much because he was the one who paid the 2 bucks for it in the first place.

Then we ran into his house, kicked off your shoes in the hall, raced up the stairs, and darted into his room.  I threw my heavy book bag to the ground and flopped onto his bed, happy to be in a place were there is no devils to tell me what to do.
