The Stupid Things I Did For Nothing

Chapter 5- Love Is In The Air

The drive home was long and quite.  I spent most of the  time looking out the window waching the picture perfect houses roll by.  Sam spent the whole time fiddling with the radio, but every now and then I can feel the heat of his eyes on me, and I tence up.

After 30 minutes of listing to 20 different radio staitions I was sercely starting to think that he was taking the long way home, but no.  So I had to do somthing because, as you proply noticed, I get board really easly.

"Can you belive what those people said?"  I asked Sam as turned my attion away from the window.

"Ya I know, what were the thinking!  I mean you and me that would NEVER happen!"  he said almost laughing.

" I agree." I answer weakly, now feeling no biger than a speck of dust.  But what was I expecting, I mean he does have a girlfriend that he has dated for over a year.  I guess he could have said,'They must have been blind or something,' but no.  He had to crush the only ounce of self-astem that I had left.

"Sorry...I  didn't mean it like that, I mean any boy would be lucky to date you.  For starters you are beautiful, smart, and caring."  he told me scencerly.  With that I blushed to the point were I could feel the heat of my cheeks.  That was the kindest thing anyone has ever said to me, but I didn't have the time to say anthing because we were already home.

~~~~~
The dark, cold hardwood floor felt nice aganist my small feet, as I stood in the door fram of Sam's closet.  I stared at all of the clothes I have seen Sam wear for the last year.
"So...is it going to be a big party?"  I wondered as I fingered his best shirt.
"I don't know, all she said was wear something that you would wear to prom."  His voice driffted from the back of his room were he was changing into his nice pants.
"What do you think," he asked after a long quiet pause.  I truned around watching his navey blue walls pass by in a wril.
He was standing at the far side of his rooom next to his wooden dresser.  His arms raised as if to say 'what do you think'.  A perfect six pack was what I was foccasing on, put then I looked down at the pants the fit him beautifuly.
It was imposiable not to smile as I said the one word which came to mind," Perfect."
I walked over to were he was standing, the white, neatly pressed shirt in my hands.  I toched his stong, tan sloders as I place the shirt on him.  The girl in me would have passed out from the look in his eyes, but as only his friend I watched my hands shake as I buttoned his shirt.  After I finished the last botton I looked up into his eyes, and I say it, I say why that old couple had mistaken us as love birds.
My hands slid down to his chest, but my eyes never left his.  As he leaned in, I closed my eyes and waited for your lips to meet, I couldn't help but think about how long I have waited for this moment.
"Batman, don, don, Batman,"  blared his ringtone blared, braking us from our lip lock action.
"I need to go," he whispered.  His arms were wraped arond the waist, my arms were wrapped around his neck, I was standing on my tippy toes to be able to reach his hieght.
Sam was the first to pull away, he grabed his matching jacket and clip on bow tie, and headed for the door.
His hand was already gripping the door knobe when truned back toward were I was standing, he opened his mounth but was unable to say anything.  After stugling with words he raced back to me, wrapped his arms around my waist and kissed my pasently, once again, on the lips.
This time I was the one to pull away, I leanded into his ear and said the words I know he wanted to hear,"I won't tell anyone."  With that, we wrapped up with a third an finally kiss, then left the room.
~~~~~

"By see you later," he said looking me in the eyes befor tuning and shutting the front door behind him.  I walked over to the living room smilling as pure happiness overwelled me.

"So, is he in love with you yet,"  asked Sam's sister, Sarah, who sat on the moca colored, 'L' shaped couch.  She was watching New Moon (actually only the part which Jacob is shirtless),  a bowl of popcorn stitting in her lap as she sat criss-cross-apple-sause in her pj's.

"I don't know,"  I answered, as I ploded down next to her smilling to myself thinking about what had just happened.
