Bloodshed and war, that's all that's on the news nowadays. A young teenager sits staring at the TV screen in a dimly lit room, watching as graphic scenes of gore and horror unfold; unfeeling. "War has now broken out in Canada and the United States of America. Our sources confirm that it is infact a specific group of people called; Spirit Bearer's." the voice drones on, the girl never once losing focus. Ahh, so that's what the media are calling them now... nice to know the slimy animals have a name after all she thought noncommittally. Although it was just yesterday that she'd seen a man dragged from his home by men in dark suits, shortly after her neighbors were taken and now... A scream broke through her thoughts, one that came from her own house. She got up only to feel arms around her.

"No! No! Please, we aren't spirit bearers! S'il vous plait! S'il vous plait!!" My mother, Alice, cried out. She stopped in her tracks and watched as they hit her over the head, hard. The teenager watched wide eyed as her mother went down, blood slowly dripping out. The girl made a small noise of both shock and astonishment and covered her mouth, taking a step back, Was her mother a spirit bearer? Did that mean..

"Are you Evelyn Thompson?" A man in a dark suit asked her. It took a few moments for the words to process through the young girls mind.

"Yeah.." Her voice cracked; fearful.

"Where's your father?" He asked, stepping closer, raising his baton threateningly.

"I-I don't know." The teenager replied quickly, trying to adjust to the growing severity of the situation.

The man narrowed his eyes suspiciously. "Where is he!" He snapped.

"I really don't know!" The girl shouted, looking at him, Standing as still as she could.

The dark suited man looked back "Check his work place." he turned back to the teenager, raising his baton, intending to knock her out cold, the teenager cried out and crumbled down, still awake. Her head pounded as she tried to get back up but the dark suited man saw her moving and hit her a couple more times. He turned to his friends. "We've got them. Hand them over to the Canadian government." He said, with a nod of their heads the deed was done.

The girls last thought before she passed into unconciousness was... 'why?'

Several hours later I arrived in a large warehouse. My head ached as I tried to sit up. I groaned, deciding it was best not to. I looked around "Mom! Alice?! Are you here!" I called out for her but recieved no reply, all I saw were a bunch of kids huddling around each other. I bit my lip gently "Mother!"

"Shut up!" Someone snapped.

I kept my mouth shut, looking for her. My head kept aching as I twisted it around to look for her. I finally gave up my spot on the cold concrete ground and got up, my head started to pound harder than before and I stumbled back, bringing a hand to my face as I tried to stay up.

"Evelyn!! Evelyn!" I heard a famlair voice call my name.

"Mother!" I yelled, running to her. As soon as I crossed a thick white line, a jolt went through me. I went down and started to convulse. My mother screamed for me, trying to get to my side. I felt a burn around my ankle, I wanted to scream. I felt rough hands throw me back onto the side I had come from, my mom standing near the white line.

"M-mom.." I said but my vision went black.

I woke up later, my lips moist. I frowned slightly and opened my eyes, to see a nice looking teenage girl hovering over me. The other girl had pale skin with black hair with matching eyes. I found the black eyes a little unnerving but it was the 21st century, maybe she had contacts in? Anyway, she had a bowl with a small sponge. She dripped water onto my lips and I drank it up the best I could. "Thanks.." I said softly, my throat hurting. The other teenager nodded and kept giving me water.

"So what's your name?" She asked softly.

"Evelyn. You?" I aswered.

"Raven."
