The Monster

My name is Sans.

I am a 15 year-old girl, with a passion for nature. I have short brown hair, and  bright blue eyes. I always loved the outdoors, especially when it was raining. The water and I have a strong bond. I'm on the Ravens' of Rockwood High's swim team. I always stay a little bit longer than everyone else, just so that I can swim. Even my mother says I'm a bit too attached!

My father? No...well, I don't know too much about him. Mother never liked to talk about it. She said he drowned in a lake when I was about 4, so I didn't remember much.

Anyways, today was a sunny day, so I decided to visit my favorite place: our neighbors pond. Mr. Johns was a terribly mean man, so I go there whenever he's out at work. I have never been caught (good thing too).

I walk down the dirt path, kicking stones as they jitter off in different directions. Coming to a stop, I see the pond. I don't do much with the pond surprisingly, I usually just lay next to it;
but I could tell something changed. It wasn't the cold chill down my spine, or the silent frogs...but something I could feel rather than see.

"Psh. Probably nothing." I thought.

Laying down in the dry patch of dirt next to it, I look up at the sky. It was so beautiful. The clouds looked like cotton balls and the universe seemed to form an ombre of colors. Tonight there was going to be a full moon. My mother said not to be there on the day of a full moon, even in daylight since there are plenty of bears and coyotes out here...according to her.

I've never seen a coyote, or a bear for that matter!

My mom is weird.

After staring at the sky for a few minutes, I realized that my hair was in the water. It was no big deal. I'm going to take a shower anyways.  Besides, it was quite refreshing, almost like ice cold water on my neck.

Starting to feel sleepy, I tried to get up.

"What?" I couldn't move. There was no use. Pulling and struggling to get free, I froze. Something gooey slid across my neck and arms. I saw seaweed, being wrapped around and pulling tight.

As soon as I was about to scream for help, I got pulled under, like an anchor was attached to my body.

Holding my breath, I glanced down to see this terrifying creature. It was dark, had a human-like form, only it didn't have any physical properties.

I started to cry. Obviously that helped.

"This is where it ends. I'm going to die. Just like father did...but wait...he drowned, right?"

I ran out of energy, and stopped struggling as the monster dragged me further down.

I inhaled, hoping for air, only to cough up pond water.

Just over my coughing, I could barely hear a screech as the monster grasped to me stood still.

On the verge of passing out, the last thing I saw was a fast glowing light.

That's when I heard the whispers.
